Birds D will be fine against Ryle. Not much of a threat outside of England getting loose. I think our LBs will keep him in check. Key will be getting our O rolling early.

Not going with a 4th down lineman and crowding the box was a recipe for disaster. They were crushed in the trenches and in the middle. Ground and pound between the tackles. Those big boys sealed the line. Not a big fan on game plan last week. Birdie told me it was about missed assignments; might be poor preparation. Learn and move forward.

That is easier said than done. England will get his yards and he will break a few for long gains. I think this is an interesting match-up and I'm really interested in the results. With a new QB, Ryle is not going to be the same team now that they will be at the end of the season. Fitting #9 into the offense and getting him comfortable is one thing that ought to be high on the list for goals in these weeks as he transitions to a new position. He is an athlete. Feeding England the ball and sneaking it to Cusick for change of pace is an effective approach. When England is out, the running game is not the same. Ryle's Center is a man. I would go with the run game to open the passing lanes.

Who is the top talent on the Ryle D?

 

LB Jackson Saladin. He plays outside LB and is really good at covering receivers. He did a lot of this against Lex Cath. He is also good on the edge. He'll take on the blocker and hold him in place then throw him aside to make a tackle on the RB or QB going around the end. He also is a good tackler. He is definitely among the top 3 LBs in NKY. He is also a stand-up kid.

 

The only thing I have against him is that he lived in a neighborhood that looked like he was in the Boone Co school district because he went to Middle School where 95% of the kids wind up at BCHS. Unfortunately for us, the way the school district line is drawn, he was one of the few that rightly goes to Ryle H.S. No matter, I am a big fan.

Cusick is pretty quick but nobody is making England look slow on that team. He is a very good combination of speed and strength. He is probably 75% of Ryle's offensive presence and that team goes as he goes. Should be a good one in the rain.

Looks like a lot of rain. I think it changes things for sure. The rain definitely favors the running game more, but it also creates havoc and that favors the Birds IMO. I still like the Birds in this one but it could be closer.

 

Ryle's new QB is on his first real start(sorry Boone). Keegan hasn't faced a D like HHS or the pressure of a big game. Throw in a downpour and it WILL cause problems. I wouldn't be surprised if they go back to Jake Smith in a downpour because he has more time in at QB.

Will this game be streamed on YouTube by the HHS student broadcasters like the previous games? They do a pretty good job.

I believe it will be close rain or no rain. The biggest bummer could be lightning delay or postponement again like last Friday. These teams are evenly matched.

Being a weather man isn’t easy. Radar shows rain for a little then clearing. Hopefully it just sticks around for a bit.
