OK,here is my 2 cents. 4 times NCC was inside the 10 yardline and turned the ball over. HC was inside the 10 once. There TD was about a 40 yard pass and a very nice one I might add. But to say NCC did not move the ball is just wrong. HC had one big play and NCC's big play was called back. I will get the stats from the first game and put them on here. If I remember correctly I believe Vicars had 97 yards but i could be wrong. The problem with the running game here was simple. #1 NCC's passing was not there,for whatever reason. It is there now, not to the extend of last year by no means, but enough to stop them from stacking box like they did the last time we played. #2 They put 10 guys in the box after we scored in 3 plays running the ball. On top of that our coach pulled the fullback out and went to a spread trying to run. one less blocker against a couple more defenders.

 

This game will be won and NCC will run primarily. When they load the box Harris will throw and big pass plays will loosen the Defence up for the run. One more thing is Wes Deilh is back and healthy now also.

The fact that they were unable to score inside the redzone was the result of them not being able to run when HC stacked the box. There was a reason for the turnovers they weren't just random unlucky mishaps.

I'm sure vicars did have near 100 yards there is no doubt hes a great back he's gonna get his yards regardless. The thing is NCC couldn't just overpower HC when it came down to it. Yes they could move the ball in between the 20's, but when HC and NCC both knew they were gon run they couldn't run on the stacked defense of HC.

Well I never said woulda,coulda, or shoulda anything. I just answered your question of how he got his yards. So to answer this question the block in the back was about 20 yards behind him so I seriously doubt that perticular kid would have made the saving tackle. With that said, it was still a penalty and needed to be called back.

Actually lets review.

 

NCC scored first on a short field running from under center.

 

After that it was pretty much shotgun formation all the way. Holy Cross didn't put 10 in the box because that would have left 1 guy covering 4 receivers.

 

What they did do was shut down any NCC running game out of the shotgun formation. And what NCC did try to do was throw the ball to receivers that were not there resulting in incompletions and interceptions (two of which were in the endzone). NCC also just flat out dropped the ball when they were on the 2 yard line on a pitch to the running back. And NCC also had some procedure penalties, a couple of holds, a couple of bas snaps, and a couple of times when they just could not protect the QB from the HC rush. All in all a pretty miserable offensive showing accounting for only 7 points.

 

Holy Cross moved the ball somewhat although they were forced to punt often and they weren't great punts. A fair at best offensive showing and I'm sure they would like to put up more than 10 points this time.

 

Really both defenses played fair and of course Holy Cross did a good job catching the INTs and recovering fumbles.

 

This was a fairly bad game especially when you consider NCC score 7 in the first possession and HC scored 3 in their second. It stayed 7-3 until the final HC touchdown at the end and that was followed by the NCC INT in the endzone.

 

I dare say that both teams will play a better game this time around.

NO, the defender was on the right hip of the receiver and tipped the ball, the ball off the pads, up in the air and the defender pulled it out of the air. Or was the receiver that bad that he had no clue how to catch the ball. Explain to me how the ball hit off the pads then........it was tipped. I seen it on the films.

Do you know watch much football, like once in every game even in the NFL we see a receiver miss a pass because he lets the ball get into has pads and the balls bounces off him...

 

I was not at the game so I have no idea, but I just pointing out that your theory that it must have been tipped because or else it wouldn't have hit off his pads is wrong because that very well could have happened...
