So one game and all of a sudden St. X can’t develop depth? Didn’t run the ball successfully and had four turnovers, not sure exactly how that connects to not have depth. Can’t speak for Manual or others, but I would say the depth issue for St. X is a bit of a stretch.

I must have been doubling it to account for enrollment for a coed school. But yeah, that's still a lot of boys to not have a backup qb ready to go when needed.

Well, when we break up, our right guards go to one area of the field, our left tackles go to another, our left guards go to a different spot and our right tackles go to yet another area."

 

So, I have a hard time understanding how the next up isn't ready.

Exactly. Backups are backups for a reason. And yes, they still should have won the game.

 

In two weeks when they beat BG folks will say, see, the QB didn’t matter and they won’t take into account that the backup will have had three weeks now to figure things out compared to three days.

I’m saying the back up QB threw for about 250 yards and hadn’t played football in about a year, sounds like he did a good job. If the starter in do the same turnovers happen, who knows. But to suggest Trinity is the only team that “builds depth” is a weak claim.

 

If X’s won the game would it have been because of the depth at the QB position or would it have been because they were able to control the football and not turn the ball over? If T’s backup is in the mentality would be to still run the same offense, but make sure the running game gets going and don’t turn the ball over.

From reading your other posts it seems that he threw for 250 yards, which seems like that would have been enough to get the win, unless he had multiple turnovers or a low completion rate. I honestly don't have those stats in front of me.

 

If he did throw for 250 yards and was efficient then that kinda debunks the theory that X lost because they didn't have time to prepare their qb. If that's the case then I imagine X has other issues that they need to figure out or they will be a middle of the pack 6A team regardless of how well the new qb develops.

They lost because of mistakes that aren’t typically accounted for when preparing for a game. That’s just the way football and sports work.

 

If the starter is playing do they make a few plays to win the game, maybe, but that’s why he’s the starter.

 

School size and classification have no bearing when it comes to turnovers. They happen to everyone no matter how big or small.
