The Thoroughbreds look to get year one under new coach Steve Lickert off on the right foot. A win over 4A top 10 ranked Scott would make a nice early season statement. And a win for the Eagles would make an even bigger one, serving notice to the rest of their class.

NewCath will have to stop a good running back.

NewCath is better than last year. They have 4 home run hitters on O, and it will open up lanes for Kelly. The issue is the athleticism of the line. I am interested in watching that come along.

Scott has a very good backfield, and will be even better in the passing game this year. This won't just be the Quincy Perrin show on offense. This will be an interesting matchup.

If New Cath has a power run game it could be a long night for Scott. Boone's line opened holes for Boone RBs in the power set and it appeared they could do this all night. After one series of doing that Boone switched to a different offensive set and had more difficulty against Scott's defense.

 

Perrin is a legit back for Scott. He has good speed and is hard to bring down. He will break tackles with his stiff arm or at least get a few extra yards as the defender tries to drag him down. Scott offense also had success with the intermediate passing game. It appeared Boone was not ready for that thinking Scott only threw deep.

#18 for NewCath will cause issues on the outside for Scott. He is dynamite. I'm telling you that.

This may be the best game of the night in NKY. Tough one to pick, should be close either way for which ever team wins. Even with both teams being in different classes, this is somewhat of an early proving game for both teams.
