Halftime here at Moore High School and Beechwood is up 26-0. Beechwood’s run game and Defense has been dominating in the first half. The line play looks fantastic. Beechwood’s secondary only has 2 tackles and those were on wide receiver screens. Cam Hergott has looked good in the running game with a rushing TD. Castleman has a rushing TD. Josh Derry has the other 2 TD’s. Kicker from Beechwood looked good but has 2 xtra points blocked so they will need to sure that up. Moore has looked fast but Beechwood has dominated the line of scrimmage.

I expected a lot more improvement from the mustangs. Very disappointing.

They are playing one of the top 10-15 teams in the state with a lot of experienced two time state champion senior players. Beechwood ended the year last year ranked #11 in the entire state. The only Louisville teams ranked higher than Beechwood at the end of last year were Trinity, St. X and Male. Moore will be a better team going forward from the experience of playing Beechwood.

Would love to hear how some of Beechwood's backups/younger players are faring today?

And, man, Derry brothers gonna be ridiculous this year. Go Tigers!

Beechwood played a lot of guys. Thought the backup d-line did well and didn’t give up much. Hergott only completed a few passes and one went for about 50 yards and a TD by Odom after her caught an out and ran the rest of the way. Almost hooked up with Odom on a post that would have been a TD but he couldn’t Hall it in. Hergott ran the ball really well. Hergott will also get better once he gets comfortable and can check down. He missed some guys wide open as at times locked in on one guy. If Beechwood can sure up the secondary they will be tough to beat beacause the o-line and d-line is loaded. Also Derry is a stud at linebacker.

What was the final score after varsity action wrapped up?

Varsity was up 33-0 in middle of 3rd when younger kids came in. Moore kept varsity in and JJ Weaver caught a pass and ran about 20 yards for a TD. Beechwood had some problems holding on to ball and didn’t score any more. 33-6 final.
