St. Xavier 28 Simon Kenton 0 (Scrimmage)

After tonight i do not think X has closed the gap with Trinity. In previous threads i expressed the opinion that they had indeed closed the gap. They have not. Trinity totally destroyed a very good Ryle team, meanwhile X was not impressive against a very bad Simon Kenton football team. Last time i checked after getting home from the Ryle scrimmage, the Trinity reserves put up 14 more points for a 61-7 lead.

No offense intended to the Raiders, but as someone who closely follows NKY football and as someone who watched Ryle play tonight at Trinity, I wouldn't call them "a very good Ryle team".

Trinity has a habit of making good teams look bad. A few years ago in a regular season game, Trinity easily beat a very good Moeller team. All mighty Moe did afterwards was go undefeated the rest of the season, and win a state championship.

People that actually know something about NKY football consider SK and Ryle to be very comparable.

SK better find a new center pronto.

I keep hearing about a talent gap in NKY than Louisville why is that?

Not sure. But I do think right now Cov Cath is closer to the Louisville teams and then you have the nKy teams that are pretty comparable, Beechwood, Ryle, Simon Kenton, and Campbell County.

Looking at the size difference, not talking height, it's obvious that our programs are not doing enough to get the majority of kids in the weight room and working to get better. Team is only as good as it's weakest link. TOO many weak links....

SK just graduated a 3 year starter at center who is playing football at EKU. I think they will get things fixed.

75center, i bow to your knowledge of northern Kentucky H.S. Football. I know you folks up north are great high school football fans, and i always respect your opinions.

I've seen Ryle play 20+ times over the years, and I've seen Trinity play 10+ times over the years. You can try to say anything you want to try to talk up Trinity and make them look all the better, but the Ryle team they played last night did not look good. Period. Proselytize all you want, but Ryle was not as good as you try to make them out to be.

...mostly because of Trinity.

One of the two kids on the sack was the one SK held on the penalty. :ylsuper:This was mostly St. X's second string in on this first goal line stand but that just means the juniors who are playing varsity as far as I can tell. The class of '20 players are undefeated as freshmen and JVs. James Taylor has rejoined them after a year off at cornerback as has LB JP Reed who was injured last year.

Junior Doug Bodhaine #15 I think not Keegan Sullivan. Both teams had second string in as you said.
