And those are the girls I am thinking about most - those girls who will not play on the next level. If those girls (the 90%+) want to play other sports in addition to soccer, is it better for soccer to be in the spring or the fall? That is the key question for me.

 

The problem would lie in Tennis and Track, as I think (or maybe better assume, because I have no real numbers to go by) would probably have some crossover with soccer. Because of the nature travel soccer/softball I really don’t think there many that are playing both.

 

But based on the number of states that are already doing it, clearly girls HS soccer can exist as a spring sport.

In the states doing high school soccer in the spring, do the club teams have a fall season?

Couldn’t tell you the answer to that question. I would think though, that there are high level events pretty much year round. High school baseball being played in the spring doesn’t affect travel ball and showcase type events.

I know of several soccer officials with three or less years of experience who have opted to become volleyball officials. Pay is comparable, you are inside, and parents and players aren't as radical
