You are making my point for me here, as I'm saying the speed and talent on the outside and backfield of 87,88 teams were comparable. The 87/88 teams were an all state track team that twice beat the fastest team the state of KY has seen.

Also, '87 was the first year that Goetz installed a completely new spread offense, it took a while to get timing down. To say it is light years behind when you had a top 25 QB in the nation with 5 D1 WR / TE's is simply not having perspective. This group set most of the schools passing and receiving records by '88 and also the 4x100 track record. Hladon had almost every school passing record and 3 were tied with receiving TD record. All the CCH state champ teams had their McGinnes type of RB, and this team had several. Dan Ruh, Scott Tranter, and Mike Wolff (all 3 HOF) were beasts running behind v good lines.

I'm not saying it was a better team, but very comparable size, speed, and talent.

As has been said different eras are hard to compare. Just think if you morph the Dec 87 team onto Kroger Field 12-2-2017, 2017 wins. Not a running clock, just win. Just an opinion.

I only saw the 2017 team play 1 time and they were a well oiled machine. If there was a better team in their school’s history, then that had to be a pretty good team.

I had the chance to see this team in person twice, they did not disappoint. IMO they are the best team CCH has fielded, not taking anything away from the other great CCH teams of the past, but this team was dominant in all facets of the game.

Lucas Jones is yet to have received any offers as of yet, but as an incoming junior, he has been had a little bit of interest coming from Kentucky, where his dad Barry played. I also am fairly confident that both Carter Black and Casey McGinness will be seeing a couple-few more offers coming their ways.
