Mathias Cusick may be in the 2nd or 3rd spot at Rb or could be a backup Cb. My son said there may be a few others but till the season kicks back up it's hard to tell... Yes the Juniors are pretty loaded and a big class numbers and size wise.

Great article and good to see kickers get their just due. I am sure that his parents are very proud of all that he has accomplished so far and hoping that he gets a shot somewhere in the future.

 

However, I can say with 100% certainty that Brennan Jones does not hold the NKY record, Jared Dougherty of Highlands does and he did it while not kicking a PAT until midway through the first game of his sophomore year. He finished his career with 207 extra points which ranks in the top 5 all time.

 

All numbers for his senior season and his career records are not included in the KHSAA stats because the CLOWN they had for an athletic director did not send them to the state. Now that Highlands has a new athletic director I am hoping that this gets corrected and this kicker gets his just due as well.

 

Good luck to Mason and hopefully he can find a place to continue kicking without having to wait for too long.

I'm aware of Jared's foot, hope he is doing well at Lindsey still! Mason still has this year to adds to the record book. It will all depend on if we stall out in the red zone or we finish drives on whether it's pat's or field goals. Just curious if Jared's stats are recorded can they still be added even if the " clown " didn't send them in. If he is that high he deserves his recognition. What has impressed me about Mason is his commitment to his craft. I have watched him the last three years grow because of constant work. He has kicked year around and has willed himself to get better. He was always accurate but his kicking strength has grown immensely. Most kids get stronger with age and that is to be expected but he has put in the extra work that have helped him maximize his abilities.

Agree 100% with the last couple of statements. The increase in strength is an amazing thing to watch evolve. You even see the confidence of the coaches increase over time as well by allowing them to attempt field goals that may not have been attempted in earlier years.

 

The same thing happens at the collegiate level as the coaches become more familiar with what the kid can or cannot do.

 

As far as Jared is concerned, the new athletic director at Highlands is on top of it and it is likely that there are other records that have likewise not been turned in.

That is what really stinks for specialists. Very few are going to get that full ride and may very well spend 4 years on the team and never get that opportunity to kick in a game. Yet each and every year we see big time programs that lose games because the kicking game is so suspect.

FG Long - Longest attempts in games 40, 38, 37, 37 yards - All Made

Can go much longer, just hasn't had the opportunity in game yet. Hit 63 yards at WKU Specialist Camp of turf. Has hit from 65 yards off turf, but game situation is different than Camp.

KO Percentage is skewed. Ryle does not break out KO's for TB only. Throw in the LOB, Pooch, Off-Sides, etc.; the numbers are not correct. Expected to be high 90%+ this season when going deep.
