Not sure, it was from outside the field, but on school grounds. Well that would be one of those rules by someone who is to " what ifey " ,and it stinks.

Halfway through the 2016 season whoever sponsored (paid) for the fireworks stopped. One of the parents found someone to foot the bill for the remainder of the season. I seem to recall it was Buffalo Bobs. I don’t think anyone tried to solicit local business sponsorship for the 2017 season. So no fireworks. We asked the coach and he said, “I don’t know, some parent took care of that.” The parent that got Buffalo Bobs to sponsor the last half of the 2016 season had a player who graduated so no one took the baton to find a sponsorship after that.

I will be interested in seeing how our defense comes together this upcoming season? We lose a ton of seniors but the biggest loss might very well be the loss of defensive coordinator Mike Woolf. I might be a little biased, being that both of my boys played for coach Woolf. Has a D-coordinator been named yet? As potent as the offense has been the last three years, and even with a very good kicker, coaching decisions have often left the defense in precarious situations. for the most part, the defense held the line and kept our opponents out of the end zone. I hope the new coordinator can continue the success that coach Woolf established and demanded.

 

I wish nothing but continued success for the Raiders, but I would not be shocked if the Raiders took a step back this season.

I believe that Honaker has been named the DC and Collinsworth will be the Assistant Head Coach and continue working with the defense. The entire defensive staff remains and they will do a great job. If by coaching decisions, you are referring to onside kicks. I heard Woolf say that Molique was one of the best onside kickers he has ever seen and that they had recovered 20 plus onside kicks the past 2 seasons. Also, maybe the coach takes chances because he has the confidence in the defense to stop teams. I believe his confidence in Woolf and the defense was right on because they did stop teams and that enabled and helped the offense to put up a lot of points. Yes, Woolf going to be the head coach at CCHS is a big loss, but good programs have coaches that will move on to do bigger and better things and those programs just keep on winning.

Big shoes to fill on the defensive side of the ball personnel wise and coordinator wise for sure. I think they will rise to the challenge. Not to mention we will miss Jake Chisolm. Hopefully Kyle can perform at a high level also.

Does anyone know if Ryle will be traveling to Dalton, GA this year to participate in the Southeastern 7v7 Tournament?

I know they did the past 2 years. And last year played really well on the second day of the tourney. Just curious. Don't think BG is going this year as they have changed coaches.

They need a sponsor for 5 home games? It should be like $200 bucks, buying them outside of July.

Honestly it’s not a cost thing. It’s more of a Parent stepping up source a sponsor and handle the logistics of it all. Mrs Fletch and I handled a bunch of volunteer tasks the past few years, it was one that we couldn’t do at the same time as he rest of the ancillary parent football tasks. Fletch Jr is taking his talents to college and college ball so maybe another parent will revive the tradition.
