theguru Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 The Breds open the year with a scrimmage against Covington Catholic, ouch! Here is the rest of the schedule: Scott Cooper Campbell Belfry Christian Academy of Louisville Conner Covington Holy Cross Lloyd Newport Beechwood That is a pretty tough 2A schedule and I think it will be a struggle for NewCath to have a winning record. What do you think?
EQUUS GREVYI Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 I don't think that is their goal every year but I will play along. With no disrespect to anyone, I see the following 4 probable wins Scott Holy Cross Lloyd Newport 4 probable losses Cooper Belfry CAL Beechwood Leaving toss-ups with Campbell and Conner. I'll say 5-5 regular season but much more discipline and intensity this season.
plantmanky Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 No. Holy Cross and Newport are the only 2 games they might for sure win.
TAC Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 I'm curious to see if there is a change made at QB this year.

I think we all understand the goal is a state championship but that is a pretty rough schedule, including the scrimmage, and sometimes overplaying your hand in the regular season results in postseason failures.
Jack of all Trades Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Lickert did not make the schedule. Play them one at a time and hope you are ready come playoff time
KentuckyJoe Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 The NewCath way has always been to play the biggest and best you can to be as best prepared for district and playoffs as possible. This is nothing new.
theguru Posted April 5, 2018 Author Posted April 5, 2018 Lickert did not make the schedule. Play them one at a time and hope you are ready come playoff time What is your point?
theguru Posted April 5, 2018 Author Posted April 5, 2018 The NewCath way has always been to play the biggest and best you can to be as best prepared for district and playoffs as possible. This is nothing new. Sure but NCC was down a little last year and they are moving down to 1A next year because of shrinking enrollment. Or put another way, these may not be your big brother's Breds.
KentuckyJoe Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 True but NewCath will not try to schedule cupcakes just to collect wins and make themselves look good.
plantmanky Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 What is your point? I take it to mean that it is the in the hand excuse when things dont go well.
plantmanky Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 The NewCath way has always been to play the biggest and best you can to be as best prepared for district and playoffs as possible. This is nothing new. My question is will things continue to be done the "NewCath Way?
KentuckyJoe Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Next season drop to 1A they will still play Newport and Beechwood and I would expect a few bigger teams
theguru Posted April 5, 2018 Author Posted April 5, 2018 Next season drop to 1A they will still play Newport and Beechwood and I would expect a few bigger teams They have to be careful NOT to do what Covington Catholic did for so long when they over scheduled every year.
Bowhunt Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Lickert and staff has the boys fired up and believing. The intensity has been through the roof and the boys are working hard. The schedule is the same as last year just changed locations. Is it going to be easy nope but they have talent and will be ready to play.
