The Breds open the year with a scrimmage against Covington Catholic, ouch!

Here is the rest of the schedule:

Scott

Cooper

Campbell

Belfry

Christian Academy of Louisville

Conner

Covington Holy Cross

Lloyd

Newport

Beechwood

That is a pretty tough 2A schedule and I think it will be a struggle for NewCath to have a winning record.

What do you think?

I don't think that is their goal every year but I will play along.

With no disrespect to anyone, I see the following

4 probable wins

Scott

Holy Cross

Lloyd

Newport

4 probable losses

Cooper

Belfry

CAL

Beechwood

Leaving toss-ups with Campbell and Conner. I'll say 5-5 regular season but much more discipline and intensity this season.

I think we all understand the goal is a state championship but that is a pretty rough schedule, including the scrimmage, and sometimes overplaying your hand in the regular season results in postseason failures.

The NewCath way has always been to play the biggest and best you can to be as best prepared for district and playoffs as possible. This is nothing new.

Sure but NCC was down a little last year and they are moving down to 1A next year because of shrinking enrollment.

Or put another way, these may not be your big brother's Breds.

My question is will things continue to be done the "NewCath Way?

Next season drop to 1A they will still play Newport and Beechwood and I would expect a few bigger teams

They have to be careful NOT to do what Covington Catholic did for so long when they over scheduled every year.

Lickert and staff has the boys fired up and believing. The intensity has been through the roof and the boys are working hard. The schedule is the same as last year just changed locations. Is it going to be easy nope but they have talent and will be ready to play.
