I guess this is all part of that global warming thing.

This afternoon the LHL predicted 3"-5" of snow for Saturday in the Lexington area.

I wouldn't put too much stock in any snow accumulation totals as of yet. It is too far in advance so things could change. I've seen higher and lower totals depending on what model I look at.

Just to give everyone an update. The modeling data is showing that there is a moderate(40%) chance that a big chunk of Kentucky will receive at least 4" of snow by Saturday morning.

The models still differ some on the exact track but are starting to come into agreement on the amount of snow some will receive. Just to give everyone an idea of the possible snowfall totals. Some could receive 5-7" with upwards to 14" as the highest totals. Now those totals are not an official call. I'm thinking I will be able to give my first call later today. So everyone can check back then.

Have a great day.

Last report I saw was calling for 5" to 6" by end of the day Saturday.

I wouldn't put too much stock in totals as of yet. The models are all over the place for now. This morning they were showing some may receive 6"+ but now they are showing 1-3. I waiting for this afternoon's data to be released to see if they are still showing the 1-3". One thing of note the 12Z run of each model is showing almost the exact same totals of 1-3". I want to wait now for a couple more runs before issuing any forecast.

Well at least the snow won't last that long. :lol2:

I actually was surprised when I receive the notice this morning of the issuance of a Winter Storm Watch that early.
