McCain/Rice vs. Clinton/Obama?

 

I don't really know which of those tickets I would vote for. I think both of those choices have some strengths that would be appealing to a large segment of our nation.

For my money, Colin Powell looked like a great future awaited him in politics. I would have voted for him when he first got out of the service, and I would vote for him now.

I think a woman needs to be a Democrat and an African-American needs to be a Republican to be elected. I also believe that an African American will be elected as President before a woman is.

Maybe not, but if they're more qualified than the opposition I hope so. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few that should've won, go down before seeing someone that fit's this criteria in office.

 

It'll take time, but if we all don't blow each other off the face of the map in the next 40-60 years, it might just happen.

 

Shoot in 1980 if you'd asked this question in a much smaller scale and non politically, about a possible UK head coach being black or a woman people would've laughed....

Well, being that the minimum age is 35... There's only so young that they can appear. And nobody is going to elect a 35 year old... Edwards is about as good as it gets for the young crowd, and again, he doesn't appeal... To me at least.

 

Edwards got my support when he held his promise to Jon Stewart and began his run for Pres. on the Daily Show. I gotta admire an honest politician, even if being honest means there's absolutely no way they'll ever become a leader of anything (sad fact of the universe... or maybe I'm just pessimistic today because my sleeping schedule is ALL messed up).

 

I don't know which we'll see first, but I'd guess a woman. It doesn't matter to me as long as they're qualified and care about the issues I care about.

To me, it seemed the politics of the job got to him and he would not be able to handle that aspect of the job.

I can't see Clinton getting elected although I do believe that she could get the nomination. Obama as President....yes, Hillary........NO!

I know what you mean. The perception of him to some in the black community was that he was just a token. I think that notion came about because of the way the Republican Party seemed to parade him around.
