I think it would be a HUGE mistake for Obama to link himself with Hillary. If they don't win, he will carry that link with him as Gore did. If they do win, then he is pretty much locked into the VP position for 8 years.

 

He could stay on in the Senate and become a leader in the Senate and do more for his future than being the VP person on Hillary's ticket. I would say that Hillary needs a Southern male as her VP candidate. She going to pull the normal liberal areas. SHE is not going to pull the South or Midwest. She needs someone on the ticket to help her in that area.

 

Not sure if Republicans trust McCain enough to put him at the top of the ticket. But right now, I think that duo is the best shot they have at retaining the White House depending upon what happens over the next 2 years.

I believe that whoever is the next President... Be it a white man, a black woman, a black man, a white woman, etc... I think they need to be somewhat moderate. I don't think the country is in a state right now where we can have someone who is a strict conservative or a strict liberal in office. We need someone who gives serious thought to EACH individual issue, and doesn't just support something because he's a liberal and liberals support it. Someone who is honest with him/herself and the public will go far to get a nomination and maybe even the Presidency.

Young people aren't as interested in politics, as they should be but it may take a visual/attractive person, to get them interested and not a gray haired, stuff shirt type.

As a young person, Edwards never had much appeal to me. He just came across as so phony.

True but Edwards still seemed like "someones dad" and not a young, appealing person.

Well, being that the minimum age is 35... There's only so young that they can appear. And nobody is going to elect a 35 year old... Edwards is about as good as it gets for the young crowd, and again, he doesn't appeal... To me at least.

I'm speaking of a female, being attractive, young, energetic and charismatic to bring in the younger votes....someone the target age group could be interested in and then understand their political platform and agenda, then actually voting.

And does anyone not see the irony in all of that? In Civil War era, African American support generally came from Republicans. When did the tide start to turn that the Democrats got most of the minority vote?
