Well I might surprise some people here, but I will take Bellevue in this game. I know its a huge rivalry, but I think with Dayton already clinching the playoffs that they will hold alot of stuff back this week and not show much, and probably just try to out of this game healthy. So I wouldn't be surprised if we dont see the starters for the whole game in this one.

You know you have some solid thoughts there if this were a normal game. Except this is Dayton vs Bellevue and if the any coach tried to take the starters out in a close game there would be riot in the stands and a mutiny on the field.

That is true, but they got to think about what really is important here, and that is making sure they are healthy and ready for the playoffs, because I know this game means bragging rights to people, but being ready for the playoffs mean more....

I am not discounting your point from an outsider nor Dayton's performance this year and what they have accomplished so don't take this the wrong way. With that said, I can gurantee you that this week is just as important to the Devils as a playoff game, no matter how much advantage they may think they have going into this game. You can throw all records, playoff aspirations, playbooks, kitchen sinks, everything out the window because this is one of the most storied rivalrys in Northern Kentucky. Its personal...maybe the coaches wont feed into that theory but when the whistle blows.... the players will turn this into a slugfest. Good luck to both teams.

 

My Sr. year we had beaten them 15 consecutive times and they knocked us off the 1st time we played them ( back when we played both home and away games)...a certain Greg Klette ran all over us and he was a sophomore at the time. Nothing is ever guranteed.....

Hightchew is definately a threat. He can throw and runs for yardage. Bellevue will need to stop him. Bellevue wins.

 

Hightchew is definitely a great athlete, however he's had some real help this year from a highly underated line that contributes to his success. If Bellevues Def. line can't step up Hightchew will again run wild. If he's shut down, there are other weapons in Dayton's arsenal, just not as often utilized when he's on. Bellevue will have to be at their best in every aspect to pull out the W this year. Cross town rivalry and pride will create the potential for a classic war if both team come in the right frame of mind :fight:

:thumb: I know what you are saying, and Im sure the kids will play very hard. But I dont look for the Dayton coaches to really open things up much this week, because they wouldn't want to show to much. Also with the coach from Dayton knowing that this probably will be a real physical game, he might not want to play all their starters the whole with the chance to get one of them hurt. Especially there QB, if he is taken alot of shots during the game I really look for him not to play all game, because if he gets hurt and cant play in the playoff game they are completely done because he is their offense...So I know what your saying, because Im sure the players will play as hard as ever since of the rivalry, but I not sure that the coaches for Dayton will allow to much to happen. Like Bellevue has nothing to lose at all, so they can completely open up any new things in their playbook this week for this game...As I said before Dayton is definitely the better team out of these two teams, but I just think Bellevue will come out with the victory in this game and atleast have something positive to take from this season.

I think Bellevue is going to have its hands full stopping the Dayton running attack. Bellevue is very vunerable once a runner breaks the line of scrimmage and QB Hightchew has the speed to break some long runs.

 

Bellevue doesn't throw it very well at all. And I'm not sure they can run it sucessfully on Dayton enough to stay out of the long yardage situations. So I don't see any sustained drives for the Tigers so they will need to rely on field position to score.

 

One thing Bellevue did do well the two times I saw them is directional punting. It was executed really well against NCC who eventually had to go to twin return men to field punts. Of course that just meant 85 yard TD runs after the punts, but it will be critical field position this week.

 

So I'm giving home field and special teams to Bellevue but the offensive skill positions and D and O line go to Dayton. Linebackers even and Secondary to Dayton. Intangibles? Dayton hasn't beat Bellevue lately (2002 I think) so they should really want this one, on the other hand it is easier to be the hunter with nothing to lose than the hunted. So call that a draw.

If the winner is Dayton then yes. If the winner is Bellevue then No.

Bellevue has 1 district win (Bracken)

 

If Bellevue wins all will have two wins. Three way tie. Tiebreaker:Bellevue beats Dayton, Dayton beats Ludlow, Ludlow beats Bellevue. Still tied. Next Tiebreaker Dayton wins with most wins by defeated opposition.

I never said they wouldn't start their starters. I fully expect them to start all of their starters...Yeah Hurricane I know they already play Beechwood, so Beechwood does already know them. But Im sure Dayton probably has a few new plays they might not have shown yet this year, and when normally they probably would open up the whole playbook for the Bellevue game, but this year I dont think they will. And for Bellevue their season is over after this game, as some people have said there could be some coaching changes in Bellevue after this year, so they probably will throw every little thing out there this week because they have nothing to lose at all.
