Old Rambler did a good job describing mainly the offense maybe you could add a few words on the defense.

A lot of times the radio broadcast fails to call who made the tackles on every play and it is difficult to call just bc of that. I do know from the way it was described last night that J.T. Forrest, C. Thompson names were called a lot.:thumb: I am not intentionally slighting the defense at all. As a matter of fact I would rather watch good defense than anything. The "Orange Crush" defense of the Ramblers this year has been great. They scored a couple of times last night on int. returns for td's! That along with the special teams play has been the one constant to the Rams attack. The "O" has been off a few times (not many) but the Defense and Special teams have been very consistent and steady. This years edition of Raceland Football is a complete team in every aspect of the game.

Congratulations to Raceland – I’m sure it was a sweet win over a cross-town rival. Good luck the rest of the way. I hope you go deep in the playoffs.

I’m sure Fairview will bounce back and see better days ahead. :thumb:

You are correct in both statements graybeard and thanks for the support from our Tomcat friends. A win over Fairview in any sport is always sweet. Last nights win made the overall series with Fairview 26-8 in the Rams favor. There will be better days ahead for the Eagles They are well coached, have a very young team and have had several key injuries this season I believe.

The best way to describe the D. Big hits all night long. They pretty much stuffed the running game of the Eagles. Gang tackling on most plays. When they went to the air it took a bit, but the D settled in and read the pass pretty good. If a receiver went up for a ball he knew a big hit was coming. And the were several. There were a couple of interceptions that looked good but were ruled incomplete by the refs. All in all a good night for the rams in all aspects of the game. Also got to mention good play by the J.V. and Freshman. When the coaches started subbing the younger Rams went in and played with the same intensity as the varsity. The Rams look good for at least few more years.

It's a great day to be a RAM!!

:thumb: I agree TGF, the defense will swarm to the ball and really hit you when they get there :flame: . It is an itimidating style of "D" and wears on an opponet. I also agree about the JV and freshman teams. Raceland Football looks good for a few years to come and beyond.:thumb: It is ALWAYS a great day to be an oldrambler!:dancingpa

Most of the crowd could not hear on one end of the visitors side. It was destorted. On the other side I guess you could hear fine. I just know Cville takes pride in the whole team but has a soft spot for the defense. Just giving him a little shinning time to talk about the Orange Crush. I also agree with the mental mistakes. We have to hold onto the ball no matter what conditions are on the field.

You are so right Big Fig!!

The song title is a little ironic in relation to the men in stripes last night.

They did a good job but were  all night.

 FYI-for the younger crowd...song title is Blind man in the bleachers:D

Not to bruise any feelings of Raceland fans, but can we count on this bunch of Rams to make a post-season run? I know they always had to play northern Kentucky teams in the playoffs before, but a quick look at the records shows that they have only won four (4) playoff games in their history, even while fielding some pretty solid teams. Can we expect that to change this year?

That is not bruising this Raceland fan feelings. You have a legit question. Raceland has not had a very good record at all in the playoffs. We have never beaten Beechwood and I believe have only beaten NCC once. I hope that this years team can overcome the poor history we have vs. the NKY teams. This is one of the most "complete" Raceland teams I have seen in years. NKY h.s. football is just a step above NEKY and EKY football as a whole. There are teams in our area that can compete and win vs. them but as a whole they just have better h.s. football and that goes for all the classses with maybe the exception of AA. JMO.

oldram you can count me in on having a soft spot for the defense as well. I love to see a great defensive team. Defense is what will win games along with special teams. I go by the old saying "If we score, we may win.....if the they NEVER score, we will never lose". Former Raceland coach Larry Heck used this comment a lot. Our "D" line and linebackers have been nothing short of great this year. Last night it sounded like that C. Thompson and J.T. Forrest were all over the place, great game by both along with all of the defense. They punish their opponets with swarming to the ball and their "slobberknocker" hits - :thumb: to the Orange Crush. defensive football has always been my favorite part of the game to watch. Big Fig know what i am talking about along with cvillcat, both of those were a couple of the best defensive players ever at Raceland.

Raceland has always been known for their hard hitting defense, as far back as Bill Tom and before the Rams would put it on you. My boys have even been told later by some of their opponents that they had never been hit so hard as by a Ram.

This is a really good question and one I have been asking myself. IMO this years Ram team is one of the best ever. They can beat you with their offense, defensive or special teams and have one of the best coaching staffs in high school football.

Will the Rams make a run in the playoffs? I do not know, that will be determined on the field. I can guarantee you that they will give a total effort and are very dedicated to turn this season into one that makes history. The State Championship has been their goal since last years playoff loss and all the marbles are in place to make that happen. They are taking it one game at a time in workman like fashion. As a former Ram and life long fan I certainly hope their dream becomes a reality and I believe they have a legitimate chance at doing so.

Congatulations to Raceland Rams!

Looks like the collision course has been established for the 2nd round re-match with LCA potentially...

Do you believe this Rams team is good enough to win a state championship? Do you think they can compete with the top notch teams in 1A? I'm asking an honest question. I really don't know because I've only got to see them once at Ashland. I really hope they can or at least make a long run and get the "Northern KY teams" monkey off their back. They have one of the best coaching staffs in the entire state in any class and I know they continue to teach until the final horn sounds. I just want to hear what Rams fans think.

Did anyone notice the officials? I saw them on TV last night and I didn't reconize the crew. I know they were not from around here. Does anyone know where they were from? Did they do a good job?
