Jon Gruden to the Raiders

Featured Replies

Maybe not if ESPN decides to go after a Peyton Manning for replacement. He would be a good get for MNF IMO...and wont come cheap I am sure..

Well I suppose you could be a glass half empty guy if you want. I don't think Peyton Manning is really in need of an income. I really don't see them justifying paying a guy that's unproven the same salary as a guy that was.

I'd say obviously Manning could have a great pre draft QB camp, still doesn't mean he asks for as much or they have to give him as much as Gruden. All speculation

Did they meet the requirements of the Rooney Rule?

Did they meet the requirements of the Rooney Rule?

I read yes

Zero chance they did.

They interviewed USC’s Tee Martin and Oakland’s TE coach Bobby Johnson. NFL is investigating though as during the press conference introducing Gruden, they stated they were all in on him during a meeting on Christmas Eve.

Rooney rule is kind of a joke. They knew they were hiring Gruden but interviewed two candidates they knew they weren’t going to hire just to satisfy the rule. Waste of eveyone’s time.

Seems like they interviewed after the fact

Im more interested in who replaces Gruden on MNF than I am in him coaching again. I’m not sure this hire puts fear into other AFC West orgs.

Derrick Ansley is joining Gruden with the Raiders at DB coach. Formerly with UK and last year with Bama.
