December 28, 20178 yr This is my first call for possible snow this weekend. One good thing with these frigid temperatures is that it will help hold down on the snow accumulations. With air being so cold it can't hold on to moisture enough produce snow. With that being said some parts of Kentucky look to receive some snow Friday night into the day on Saturday. The areas of interest will be the NKY/Cincinnati area and parts of northeast Kentucky. The NKY/Cincinnati area looks to get 1-3 inches with the Cincinnati area getting closest to 3 inches. Part of northeast Kentucky is looking at a dusting to around 1 inch. For now, it seems the rest of Kentucky will miss the snow. Maybe now some will see why I don't forecast snow accumulations far in advance. Winter weather is much harder to predict that spring or summer storms. The snow looks to move in after the 5 pm ET and end during the day on Saturday. I will update in the morning. The first map shows the snow moving into the parts of Kentucky I mentioned. This one shows when the snow will start to accumulate and where.
December 29, 20178 yr Kentucky sucks in recent years. I wish it would snow a lot in the winter but that seems to be a thing of the past.
December 29, 20178 yr Author Friday morning update. Still seeing 1-3 inches for the Cincinnati/NKY area. The totals are down a little this morning for the Cincinnati area. New to this mornings update. Some may be seeing some flurries to a light dusting south of this area. This area is mainly from around the I-75 corridor eastward. For now, the timing looks to be after 5 pm ET today before the snow starts to accumulate. The snow should end sometime late on Saturday. Check back for updates Here are the new simulated maps
December 29, 20178 yr When is this snowfall supposed to start? I have family coming in from Chicago (leaving home as I type) for my grandmother's funeral. Tough travel from the north?

It looks to start early this afternoon around 1 pm ET in Illinois and be in Indiana around 5 ET. I'm waiting for the latest GFS model run then I'm going to post an update after I look at all the data.

December 29, 20178 yr Author @nWo I want feet of snow at some point this winter, can you make that happen. I wish, looks like our next shot at accumulating snow will come late during the first week of the new year.
December 29, 20178 yr Author Friday evening update. I'm staying with 1-3 inches in the NKY/Cincinnati area. One change is I'm thinking the snow may move a little to the south of that area. Maysville may get around 1 inch. The accumulating snow should stay north of I-64. Louisville should get from a dusting to maybe 1/2 inch. This map shows the accumulation totals through 9 am ET Saturday morning. Check back for updates
December 30, 20178 yr It's been snowing (a light snow) here in Ashland since about 11am. I would guess we have about an inch or so on the ground at the moment. Hopefully it stops soon or I'll have to go to work.
