I was on the sidelines for the carroll danville game and the carroll frankfort game. During the danville game, I never saw the coaching staff of daville engage with carroll county players on the field like frankfort did. Danville won with class and pride. I can't say the same of frankfort. They won by a significant margin and when up 30+ points the coaches were still working the refs and arguing back and forth with a carroll county player on the field. The carroll county player should not have engaged the coaching staff either, but, come on, who is the adult out there?

Danville was mindful and respectful to the kids out there that played their hearts out and still got beat. They tried to find positives in what might not be considered a very positive year this year for carroll county. We will be at the frankfort danville game, definitely on the side of Danville. Reguardless of the score the officials should call a penalty when the see one. The Frankfort coaches where concerned about getting players hurt. There where several late hits, chop blocks, and Robinson was kick in the face while on the ground. Proud of the way frankfort responded by staying calm and realizing the have to play next week.

As for the coaches jawing with the kids I didn't see that happen. But if it did you are correct that is uncalled for.

Looks like Frankfort took care of business when it need to be done.

Congrats to frankfort.

I agree. Danville knows how to take care of business with class and to leave all other nonsense on the field. However, I also know how "dirty" some players can play (not the Ads, though) and if the Frankfort coaches were concerned about "the other team" trying to injure one of their guys they should have been on the refs to make the call. They obviously shouldn't have said anything to the kid - what's the point? I am sure that he probably wouldn't stop. I have personally been in situations with "the other team" where the game was out of their reach and they were just out for blood. This is where the officials have to be the most watchful but also where the coaches have to watch out for their players

The Admiral coaching staff, their players and everyone involved with their program has class. It is an honor to all of Class A when a team like this wins the title. More programs should do things that way.

I wasn't at this game, but I have heard that the FHS coaches were jawing

about dangerous, dirty play. When you are a teacher ,coach, or other

authority figure you will instinctively respond to what you percieve as

unjust or excessive! If you saw someone getting beat up by a bully would you

"not get involved" or would you do something? That is why these people coach,THEY ARE NOT BYSTANDERS!!!They are responsible for the young boys

they coach, and must stand up for their players welfare.

Comments about players playing in a "dirty" manner can be heard by any person concerning any team. If one was sitting on the sidelines for the Carroll County Panthers, he would have heard the same sort of comments about the Frankfort team. The difference was that the Carroll County coaching staff did not interact with or harass the Frankfort player. Injuries, as terrible as they are, are part of football, and high school students are only teenagers with teenage mindsets. As you said, coaches and teachers are not bystanders, however, if someone is a teacher or a coach, he should know high school students overreact on a regular basis and that little trivial occurrences can grow into huge traumatic experiences because one student or player verbally shares information with someone else. Coaches should not overreact. In the school setting, that same coach should have the sense not to believe every little complaint that he hears. Being and adult and not one of the students, they should exhibit judgment and not join the over reactive bandwagon. The Carroll County - Frankfort game cannot be compared to someone getting beat up. It is football, not ballet. The Frankfort coaches should realize that despite the comment that one of the Carroll County players had a tack in his hand and stuck someone; the reality of that happening is minute. It is completely unrealistic that a player held onto a tack throughout the game without injuring himself. The game between Carroll County and Frankfort was as clean as a football game could be. Frankfort coaches showed very little class by complaining; they won the game, so they really should have little about which to complain. Instead of rehashing trivial juvenile instances, perhaps the Frankfort coaches need to focus on the Danville game. .

So the bleeding from small puncture holes must have came from the grass on the field. Several of Frankfort's players must be imagining things.

True that Frankfort should focus on Danville. I am sure that they are looking forward to and are up to the challenge. Chances are minute that they will have to play Carroll again as either a #1, 2 or 3 seed going into district play.

Carroll should likewise focus on Owen County or they will be left out of the playoffs entirely. As far as "overreacting", you just seem to want to wipe all the rest of it under the rug. You basically say Frankfort won, so it doesn't matter if CC tried to purposefully hurt someone or not. I disagree. In order for Carroll to improve, they must learn to control themselves on and off the field. They have received way too many unsportsmanlike calls this year (though I was not at the Frankfort or Danville games so don't know if that was a problem there). They have talent (in kids like Daniel Rose) but if the coaches aren't in control of the team and what they do, that talent will be wasted.

The original comment dealt with class. On that note, I'll take Frankfort to win that battle at the moment.

I guess so; the grass if pretty rough, but you know, if the scabs of little skin imperfections come off, they can look like puncture holes too. Like I said earlier, instead of rehashing trivial juvenile instances, perhaps the Frankfort coaches need to focus on the Danville game.

A few comments in response: Nothing was ever said about not caring if Carroll students purposely hurt Frankfort students. If Carroll was guilty of intentionally injuring a player, then disapproval would be shown. It, however, seems that the idea that a student intentionally hurt someone with a thumb tack is unrealistic.

Secondly, you commented on Carroll players behaving on and off the field; I am sure that you have no grounds to comment on CC teenage behavior when not on the football field, and within the last two games, only one personal foul was received. They had a difficult start, but to their credit, their behavior has been solid lately.

When not at the game, I am not sure how you can comment on class.

I am commenting to the three games that I have seen and the two others I head via radio. At one of those games I have first hand knowledge of several classless acts committed by individuals that I do not care to divulge on here.

And it does not seem immprobable to me that a kid (not a whole team) could have put a tack in underneath their glove so that it pointed out. (Though I might add that you brought that up, not Coach Buckett.) Try it with a thin pair of receivers gloves. I bet it works. (I bet it also makes a small hole in the glove.) Again, I don't know if it happened, but it is not as far-fetched as you make it sound.

So the play near the end of the game where Frankfort's Robinson was KICKED in the chin by a member of the Carroll team should be just over looked and the Frankfort coaching staff should not have worried about one of their players getting hurt. I guess they should have been focusing on Danville during the Carroll game and not worrying about Carroll. That may be the dumbest comment I have seen in a while. During a game the staff should only be focusing on that particular team and not the upcoming opponents. I would be angry with the Frankfort staff if I had a son playing and the staff wasn't trying to take care of my boy.

Not Possible. I don't care who brought it up. All I know is that this is what somebody was crying about. It didn't happen. I know this to be true. This isn't "The Longest Yard". You act like you speak from experience.

I wasn't going to get involved in this, but since thamoss seams to be an expert and brought all this stuff up I can't help myself. As for the game two years ago I'm sure you're speaking of the one where the Carroll County fans chased the reffs to the lockerroom after Frankfort had come back and won. The officials in that game finally started taking control of it after they allowed dirty play for over 3 quarters. I personally saw one Carroll player throw punches on 3 seperate occassions and the reffs finally started calling the dirty play which did help with the Frankfort comeback. Also the police were called to diffuse the situation.I wasn't at the game Friday because I was scouting, but I was told the next morning that several of our players had complained about being stabbed with something. THAMOSS is the first one to tell us what they were being stabbed with, thanks becuase we didn't know what it was. I know that year in and year out Carroll is probably the dirtiest team we play. As for Danville being a class act I agree 100%, but when you're always ranked in the top 5 you tend to get the better officating crews.
