First win of the season for Seneca, but its four losses were to Butler, PRP, Fern Creek and Trinity. Definitely battle tested.

Yes.

Very, very surprising result here. Seneca has played 4 solid teams but still St. X is 15-20 points better than them, I would think? Seneca is in year one with new coach, and they only won 7 games each of the past 2 years.

I saw Seneca play Trinity on Friday and was impressed with how hard they played and I thought they had very good coaching. Their husky big man, Carl Parker I think his name was, was tough for T to handle inside.

I have seen Seneca play a couple of times and totally agree with this assessment. They are well coached and play hard. I thought St. X would beat them, but I knew Seneca would play hard.

Surprised this hasn't been brought up, so I'm thinking maybe I have it wrong, but wasn't this supposed to be a St. Xavier home game, but a water issue led to the game being moved to Seneca?

 

That has to be somewhat of a factor, right? I realize Seneca is Cameron Indoor, but I have to believe if the Tigers have this game at home the outcome is different. Am I all wet on this line of thinking (yes...sadly...that was on purpose)?

Yes, it was supposed to be at St. X, but the water main break yesterday caused the game to be moved to Seneca.

 

I don't know how much, if any, effect that change had on the game. It is certainly possible, but Seneca generally does not have a big crowd when it plays at home and it is not considered to give the home team any significant advantage. But different teams handle disruptions like that differently, so who knows.

 

I think it also may be the case that St. X is adjusting to getting the football players, two of whom are starters, back on the floor.

 

But, I think the bottom line is that Seneca is a well-coached team that plays hard. That kind of team will win some games, even at times when it is not expected.

I was a little surprised that Trinity beat Seneca by "only 13". That was based solely on results from the past few years. This puts it in a little different light. Seneca has apparently upped its game. X will get better as they integrate the football players into the team, but this has to be a very disappointing loss.
