Generally when shake-up moves like this happen, the next axe to fall is usually on the neck of the Manager....Might have been the 'ole...."You bring in the guys to get it done or you're done"....type of private speech and then gloss it over, in the public/media.

Not to question GM Krivsky and I'm certain, managers get input....but in most professional sports businesses, Managers make recommendations but GM's, have the final say....why have them otherwise, with the exception to separate in negotiations.

 

 

Seems like Krivsky is giving a lot of responsibility to Narron as the manager. If I was the GM I would want the managers input and everything on coaches he would like to bring in, but for me I would have to have the final say because just like everyone knows it's a business and you want to win.

GM's run the day-to-day business and Managers, take input from GM's on trades, players and who needs to start, along with roles.

 

Often times, Managers are working under the direction of some GM's and Owners, as to who plays, when, where and how long.

avg/RISP was poor

 

Those RISP averages show me that the Reds front office isn't focused on the right thing to get this team where they need to be to compete for the Central. I know they competed this year until the final week but with a decent RISP average then who knows, they may have been in the postseason.

Since several went packing and the other, re-assigned hints to me that change better be reflected, in results in '07.

The Reds need to examine this stat closely before they enter the winter meetings!

He has the potential to be an outstanding player but right now I still just see him as a slightly above average player. His K's and poor average and not so stellar defense still make him a financial liability for the Reds. If he keeps this pace they will definitely trade him before his contract runs out.

So does anyone else think that the GM's decision to sign Narron to a contract extension "before" the season ended was premature?

 

Was the Chambliss move just a way to pacify Reds fans looking for a reason out?

 

Or will there be a housecleaning in the dugout?

 

Personally, I think signing Narron to an extension before the season was over was premature.

IMO Chambliss is gone for one reason - Adam Dunn's lack of improvement in avg and Ks.

One of the talking experts up here in the Cincy area had some stats saying that as a team, the Reds had improved over Chambliss' 3 years in cutting down their K's.
