October 11, 200619 yr I agree...if you're just going to be a player. But, if you're supposed to be a leader, I think there are certain additional responsibilities that come with that title. Jeter IS a captain, as much as they all want to be the media, fans or any others outside the team are not a part of the team. Jeter is not the vocal type although we don't know what is said in the clubhouse (and shouldn't). Jeter leads by example on and off the field, he is a true definition of a professional....ALL Class, ALL the time. A Jeter trade imo would be the downfall of the Yankees.

October 11, 200619 yr I don't agree with # 1 or # 5. Jeter is also correct in his comments. His job is to play baseball to the best of his ability and provide leadership on & off the field. I think he does both. If I were the Boss, Jeter would be a Yankee for as long as he chooses to do so. Jeter should be a Yankee longer than the Boss will be a Yankee! :thumb: :thumb:

October 11, 200619 yr What a joke, the Boss is all about the playoffs, so why in the world would he trade the guy who has the most playoff hits? Since when have the Yankees cared about paying their players-never, so it doesn't matter who costs more. The Boss wants to win the WS and Jeter can help him do that.

I have to agree with the above said. In terms of calary for the Yank's, I'd compare it to a quote of a famous rapper, "Money ain't a thing"....
