It's not about cheering for an injury. I would be cheering and applauding that hit if Gibson had gotten up with nothing wrong with him.

 

The intensity of the game and the intensity of the hit fit the magnitude of that game going down in history as one of the greatest ever played.

It was a more intense rival then than now. Both teams had a true hatred for each other and he was just saying that hit Summed it up

They went to Bermuda shortly after this, I believe.

 

Bermuda was installed right after Duffy took over in 1988. So around that time frame.

Birds won 4 state championships on the Bremuda grass, then the turf went on in like 2005.

 

Installed in the 11th hour prior to start of the 2002 season. I remember a friend of mine who actually helped worked in 24hr shifts as a Volunteer to make sure it was ready. The 1st team to play Highlands on it's Field Turf was Louisville Central I believe.

Highlands has been down ever since Dale left........ will be interesting to see if they can get back to that.
