Sorry wrong kid. The Murphy kid is a 6th grader this year, whom is left handed and strong. I didn’t pay attention to the grade you were speaking of.

How do tiebreakers work? For instance, two teams in the East who split two games and end up with the same record? No other losses, but the game they lost to the other? Coin flip?

Don’t watch Camp Ernst 6th grade girls for a comparison. They are solid.

 

7th and 8th grade girls basketball can get bad as all the talent has been moved up to the high school teams. However, here are still some good teams out there that play good basketball.

 

IMO, the officiating takes away the potential for good play, at least on the girls’ side. They let the girls play way too much. I’ve seen girls ran over by the defender trying to steal the ball. I finally saw the first offensive foul all year where a girl pushed off with her off-hand dribbling down the floor, and I’ve seen numerous girls shoved to the ground with the off-hand with no call. I saw a retaliation elbow to the face not called, just a warning given. I know some coaches get extremely frustrated with it as they’re trying to teach their kids to play the right way, and there are some coaches where this feeds right into their style of play.

 

There have been a couple games this year where the officials called it tightly early in the game, and it led to well played games as the girls and coaches realized they actually had to play proper defense.
