Too much speed for Harlan on both sides of the ball.

You seem really anti-Harlan in your post. You also thought W-burg was gonna throw all over them as well. I got news for ya. The game will be tight. Don't forget that Harlan lost 26-20 last year. Both teams have practically the same teams returning. I remember the time before that 4 yrs ago when they last played that M-boro beat them 20-0. That M-boro team was loaded,won the region and that Harlan team lets say, was not very good. My buddy coach P. will have them schemed up defensively.

I'm definitley not anti-Harlan and I dont think that I said anything to make it sound that way. I have the upmost respect for coach Perry and his defensive schemes. I honestly think that M-boro will score atleast 2 touchdowns of that score that I listed on defense/special teams. I think Coach Perry is pretty good at stopping the veer in the past and I look for him to hold M-boro to under 200 yards rushing. Don't be supprised though if M-boro brings in a couple touchdowns from Interceptions and maybe a punt. Harlan's Recievers and QB haven't seen this kind of speed in the secondary all year nor the kind of pressure that Roark will bring at them when they try to spread it out. Hopefully I'm wrong. I try to pick with my head and not with my emotions.

Waggle, do you really think Mboro that much better than Breathitt Co? I think the thing that some are missing about this Dragon team is that they play with a big heart, and thats not picking with just emotions. This team just doesn't quit or get down and out on themselves. And the defense has been so good at adapting. I also,like another poster, think back to these same teams last year, now one year better, with the Jackets coming away with a 6 point win. I think Harlan has improved as much as the Jackets and will squeek it out. Anyone know when Mboro and Breathitt play

Middlesboro 34-7.

Last year Middlesboro had several turnovers (2 fumbles on punt returns that Harlan recovered inside there own 20 yard line ,Harlan scored both times) a couple of Interception (one on 1st and goal at the 4 yard line).

 

Last year turnovers KILLED us all season long and I think at one time M'boro was averaging 4 turnovers a game (7 in loses).

 

This year though Middlesboro so far with the exception of Central has done a excellent job hanging onto the football.

I think coach Donahue will be able to hold on to the ball long enough to where it will be hard for M-boro to put up the big numbers. Maybe under 200 is a little low so I will go with 250. However, I won't be supprised if Harlan can stop M-Boro with Coach Perry calling the defensive shots. One thing is for sure, this should be a pretty competitive game. I see Harlan maybe making too many mistakes though due to the fact that M-Boro has possibly one of the fastest teams in Eastern Ky. Good luck to both teams.

I honestly do think that M-boro is better than Breathitt. Roark's teams have always gotten better as the year has went on and I think they will be ready for this game. Again, I hope that Harlan can pull it off in the end, but

I don't see it happening. NG73, I will take the game ball offer again if you win because this would be great for you guys heading into the playoffs, and better yet Somerset. Good luck guys, prove me wrong.:thumb:

Call me crazy....but I really think this will be a defensive struggle and not alot of scoring. I have seen both teams and was very impressed with Harlan's defense. M'boro does a nice job with its veer and can be effective in the passing game. Overall, in the end , I think depth is the key....M'boro 17, Harlan 14.

I agree with volfan, M'boro has the better depth and I see that making a difference in the 4th quarter in several M'boro games....M'boro 28, Harlan 14

Middlesboro 35 - Harlan 21

You are right, in a shootout, Mboro wins big. However, Harlans defense is allowing 9 points a game, 6 if you take away scores off turnovers. They are for real. Should be a fun game. Both teams should play loose, no district implications. Breathitt County beat Harlan 19-7. One score was an intercepted pass into the endzone. One was another interception that set up a TD deep into Dragon territory. They only had one score that qualified as a "Drive". If both teams hold onto the ball, will be a close one, and as I've said, a break or two either way could decide it.

OK here's what's going to happen. Middlesboro and Harlan will be a very tight game for the first half, with the Jackets going into the lockeroom with a 7-6 lead. The Jackets will get a stop in the first drive of the 3rd quarter, score off the punt return, get the stop again, score on the 3rd play, and then get a turnover, put it in on the 2nd play, and the game will be over from there. Look for Middlesboro to win big, 42-14, with Harlan's 2nd TD comming on the JV.

 

Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of respect for Harlan, but I think Middlesboro is to much on a roll, and has to much speed to contend with. If Middlesboro doesn't look ahead to Breathitt County and hangs onto the ball, it will be a long night for the Green Dragons.

I've been out of town for the past 2 weeks, when the CSX calls you must go. My question for the Middlesboro people and this may be old news, why is it that Middlesboro and Bell Co. don't play this year.
