They both have played two like opponets. Harlan beat cawood 19-7, middlesboro beat Cawood 46-18. Harlan beat Lynn Camp 21-8, middlesboro beat the campers 48-14. My limited high school math class tells me Middlesboro wins this one by 4 TD'S.

Well you can't just say that they will win based on who they have played because I recall last season, when Sheldon Clark killed Breathitt 33-14 in the first round. During the season Breathitt beat shelby valley to death, when Sheldon Clark only won by I believe 4 points.

We ran for over 380 yards on Corbin ,are you saying Harlans defense is that much better than Corbins??

yes

The biggest advantage Middlesboro has is its past record with Harlan. A lot of you may be thinking "why in the heck does it matter what has happened in the past". But im sure some coaches on here and certainly players can admit. When a team has had your number for an extened period of time, you of course hope to beat them, but in the back of your head you think they have an advantage. Harlan all though a very tough team, has lived in Middlesboro's shadow, and this does have an affect with the players envolved in the game.

My honest prediction is that it will be a tough hard fought game!

That Harlan D is gonna make stuff ugly at first, I think the score at the half will be low, but I think in the 3rd and 4th quarter Middlesboro's depth and speed will take over. I predict 28-14 JACKETS. Middlesboro will score atleast one TD on defense or special teams.

Middlesboro could get in trouble though IF...

1. they turn the ball over early

2. Allow Harlan to run the ball and control the clock

3. Let this Harlan team hang around untill late in the 3rd or 4th quarter.

To much speed and depth for the Green Dragons to handle, they havn't faced a team like Middlesboro All year.

Good post, except for "living in Middlesboro's shadow". Middlesboro is a non-district game. They were lucky to come out of Harlan with a win last year. I think there is respect, but not fear. The Dragons are one of the most consistent small Class A teams in the mountains, largely due to Coach Donahue's ability to get the most from his players, as well as Coach Perry's knack for defensive schemes. If Harlan has a "shadow" to fight, its probably Pikeville. This game will be a positive for Harlan win or lose, as long as no one gets hurt. And like you, I believe Harlan has a chance for an upset with a break or two.

I believe that Middlesboro shouoldnt look over Harlan. We as in Breathitt had quite the game with them. They have some pretty big boys on their team this year and they beat us up pretty bad. If Middlesboro lets them hang around then i predict that they will lose.

Middlesboro-21

Harlan-27

IMO, if Corbin and Harlan played Corbin would win pretty easily......that being said the Jackets in a big way!

Boro 54

Harlan 13 :D

Again for those who didn't get to see Corbin/Middlesboro game if u call Corbins defense better than Harlan's you would be wrong. Corbin could not tackle that night. It wasn't because Middlesboro made them miss, just simply they didn't wrap up. Diving at peoples legs for a tackle doesn't work when ur playing a team like Middlesboro. Wasn't the score at the end of the 3rd 42-42. Harlan is a 4 quarter team, and they won't stop playing no matter what. If Middlesboro is basing this game on schedule they are in trouble. I agree Middlesboro has alot more speed than Harlan, but you don't have to beat speed just slow it down. This is going to be a good one. 32-21 Middlesboro

Middlesboro will not play Bell County anymore for a couple of reasons, the main one I will not speculate about. I have a good feeling that it is true, but I don't want to start any rumors on here. But if you look anymore, there isn't many teams in SE Kentucky that will play Bell outside of their district.

But let's move this to another thread and get talking about Middlesboro vs Harlan again!!

I still think this will be a tight game in the 1st half, mainly because Middlesboro is famous for it's slow starts, but the Jackets will break it open in the 2nd half and will win big.

GO JACKETS!!!! :dancingpa

I know the reason that we(Corbin) are not playing Bell Co. anymore, Our coaches fills that our program is not up to the Bell Co. level and it's hard for me to say that, but the truth is the truth. I was wondering why Middlesboro is not playing them.

When did you become a Corbin fan? You use to be a Bell Co. fan if I remember correctly. Do you still coach at the same school as you did last year?

Dragon Pappy, Im not 100% sure of it, but what is Harlans record Vs. Middlesboro over the years???? I may be wrong here but I think the last time Harlan won was in the mid 90's, maybe 96. I think the record shows that Harlan does live in Middlesboro's shadow even tho they are not in in the same class. People around the state, who know nothing about the caliber teams that M'boro and Harlan have would pick Middlesboro in this game. Again my point.

Wrong again! Living in someone's shadow means that you sit and worry about that person, or in this case "team" all the time. What you may well say is that Middlesboro owns the series, much like you could say that Middlesboro lives in the shadow of Bell County, right?? :ylsuper: Well I can tell you that the Middlesboro game never comes up until the week of. What is discussed are the class A teams Harlan has to beat to get to the playoffs. If you want Harlan to "cringe" in Middlesboro's shadow, you'll be waiting until a certain place is ice covered and the teams are playing hockey at Wasioto Winds instead of football. I gaurentee you that Harlan is "not" spending their waking moments trembling..................
