Project First Rankings

I feel confident in saying that they won't be ahead of either one. Clemson might be in top 4.

It’s possible they have some close ones, including to a one win North Carolina team today. Clemson may be in it but it’s hard to imagine Notre Dame not being over them with who both lost to and with how each are playing right now.

No way Ohio State is 3 over Miami or Wisconsin.

I love how you get people mad. I know you don't believe either belong in the top 5.

1. Alabama

2. Georgia

3. Notre Dame

4. Ohio State

5. Oklahoma

6. Clemson

7. Miami

8. Wisconsin

I don't see them putting Penn State behind Miami and Wisconsin.

I think the first rankings will have

1. Georgia

2. Alabama

3. Ohio St

4. Clemson or Wisconsin

6. Notre Dame

7. Penn St.

8. Miami

9. Oklahoma

10. Washington

No way Wiscy is 4th. I think they fall somewhere between 8 and 10. The committee watched games. Even against bad teams Wisconsin doesn't look dominant. You can just tell the talent gap between them and the schools they are playing, but they aren't blowing teams out. 24-10 against one of the 3 worst teams in the Big 10 is just not impressive.

I don't disagree, but that zero in their record helps them more than it probably should.

I think the committee values the undefeated record, but it's the first rankings. The undefeated record gets them in at the end of the year as it should, but the committees job right now is to simply name the 4 best teams. Wisconsin is not one of them IMO.

This is what I think it will look like:

1. Alabama

2. Georgia

3. Ohio State

4. Notre Dame

5. Penn State

6. Clemson

I don't think the committee will respect Wisconsin at all.

If the committee is selecting the top 4 teams in the country; do you think OSU should be ranked ahead of Oklahoma after what Oklahoma did to OSU in their own place.

The committees job is to put the 4 best teams in. Oklahoma hasn't looked good since OSU and OSU has played very well since. I know the AP and coaches polls don't matter anymore, but I think they will align more with what the committee thinks on OU. If OU dominates the rest of their schedule they'll jump OSU. Just not right now.

It'll be interesting to see.

I think at this point the top 3 should probably be Georgia, Alabama and Notre Dame. Not sure how you could argue against that. #4 will be either Ohio State or Oklahoma.

I think head to head has to mean something. This is the benefit that I keep telling you that OSU keeps getting. Last year PSU beat them head to head; they end the season and OSU is ranked ahead of them (probably a mistake by the committee). This year Oklahoma beats them handily in the shoe, they both have the same record and OSU is ranked above them. Maybe that loss to Iowa State isn't so bad looking right now. I'm just yanking your chain this morning but nobody gets more benefit of the doubt than your Buckeyes.

I don't think you could exclude Clemson from that discussion at the 4 spot.

I do. They have the worst loss of the three, and don't have anywhere close to as good of a win as OSU and OU do.

Bama gets more benefit of the doubt than anyone. Not that it isn't deserved, but it's foolish to believe otherwise. Especially if they are 1 and UGA is 2 tonight. They are judged on a different scale than everyone else. But head to head matters when all things are equal. I don't think the committee think OSU and OU have been equal despite the head to head loss.
