Maybe, if your team plays a similar style that is probably true.

 

Most teams are not going to be able to out athlete them. A team who plays a different style may be able to out-physical them and win. :sssh:

 

If anyone clicked on the above article, that was exactly the formula Jaggers presented. They'll still be hard to beat, but that's probably the best approach for most teams.

I think in 3A this year, a one dimensional team (pass or run) style will only get you so far. I also believe the same for one dimensional team (athletic or size) will only get you so far.

 

3A has enough really good teams that have balance with pass/run and a good mix of athletic/size to go the distance.

 

In my opinion, if you hang your hat on one of these traits, you will not reach the promise land.

I saw them here at Franklin-Simpson the first game of the year. They were faster than FS, which shocked me as that rarely happens. Jay Becherer at RB is probably the best player on the team. I could tell they had a lot of experience because they played an almost mistake-free game. They returned all but one starter from last year I think. They can run it or pass it. They didn't seem to be huge in the lines but they were very effective. Ran some wing t but also had a lot of shotgun snaps as well.

Anybody see the Boyle/Central playoff game last year? Anybody see the Etown/Central playoff game last year? Both teams are pretty much the same personnel wise as last season correct? Obviously a year bigger, stronger, and faster but still mostly the same kids. Boyle was dominated and beaten handily by 31 points. Etown took Central to the wire losing on a jump ball TD pass in the final seconds. My money is on the Panthers to make it to the final. This of course is dependent on both teams even making it to the Semifinals. Caldwell and Lex Cath are not pushovers.

 

Most of the kids that played for Boyle against Central last year have either graduated or setting on the bench, Boyle has 22 seniors this year and I've been told only 4 are starting there's a youth movement going on at Boyle this season most of their talent is in the sophomore class so comparing the Boyle and E-Town teams that played Central last year doesn't pan out because Boyle is a totally different team this season on both sides of the ball.

Just kidding, but I probably should have included the word play on the end of the title.

E-Town is a perennial Bardstown opponent. Bardstown beat them last season by throwing over the middle in the first half and then surviving a furious second half comeback attempt. We have them on HUDL a bunch for this year's Week 9 matchup. They are tall, long, athletic, in great physical condition, and do not make mistakes. Balanced attack. I believe to beat them you need to throw, even a powerful run game these guys are hard to block. They are a contender. My .02.

Etown had 56 yards of offense on 14 plays

CAL had 8 yards on 13 plays

 

Outgained them 7-1, picked off a pass and forced a safety. Led 9-0. In my book that's domination. Obviously things went terribly wrong for the Panthers after that as they were the ones dominated the rest of the way.
