BluegrassPreps Class 5A Football Rankings (9/25) Discussion a

Don't write Christian County out. Lot of football to be played and the Regional Final would be a home game for them if they are the District 1 rep!

I've got to see them beat an inferior Owensboro team, something that has stood in their way in the past.

Fair enough! And I agree with you.

Can South Oldham beat Covcath at home?

CovCath has proven why they are tops in 5A but why not? It's why we play the game. South is getting much better as the season progresses. Still a lot of football between now and then.

District 5 is paired with District 3 so if Covington Catholic won their district and the first two games in the playoffs and the one seed from District 3 won their first two games, the regional final would be at the D3 school (most likely South Oldham). Any other seed from D3 or D5 that plays Covington Catholic would be at CovCath.

I understand the way it works, but that would potentially be the second year in a row CovCath would play the regional championship on the road. They played at Fern Creek last year in the round of 8.

Absolutely. That's why the cross-bracketing is an absolutely atrocious idea. The only reason they do it is because the northern Kentucky 6A schools don't want to play Trinity and/or St. X every season. After the KHSAA made that change in 6A, then they adjusted 2A-5A. Now you've got teams having to potentially play consecutive seasons on the road in the regional finals. It is absolutely pointless and should not be done.
