As far as Dalton, you play a sport long enough, your going to have a off year. I remember the fans were ready to run Ken Anderson after the "80" season.

He rebounds the next year and takes the team to the super bowl, and wins the m.v.p.. So maybe it's Daltons "off" year. The o-line is bad...not his fault. But he usually has hit open guy's in the past. As far as Kaepernick, he is his own worst enemy at this point. Lets not forget he..."opted" out of his contract. Could have gotten 14.5 mil to hold a clip board. And if he still was a option for teams, if not the n.f.l., why not Canada? His game is perfect for the c.f.l.!!! Do i think he deserves another chance,yes...probably. But not my call. As far as the Bengals, don't panic!!! But if they lose to Cleveland, you might want to re-think it!!!....lol!!!

Dalton has only had 2 "on" years then which were 2013 and 2015. I wouldn't consider his play in any other year any better than average at best. Jeff Blake also had one or two really good years. Doesn't mean he was a good qb and deserved the benefit of doubt.

THAT Kap is an upgrade for sure. The Kap that got benched for Blaine Gabbert is not an upgrade.

The talent level with the 49ers went way down. He had no one to throw to, no running game and 2 different head coaches in two years. His good years he had talent and a good head coach. It may have just been the good head coach for his good play or maybe it was the talent around him. In Cincy he would have the talent but not the good head coach. So it would be hard to tell how he would do.

So did Trent Dilfer.

I recall Dilfer well as a QB. Nothing he did on the field was ever as impressive as Kaepernick was during his run. Kaepernick made plays with his arm and legs. Dilfer took great care not to make plays and screw things up for his defense in his peak years.

SF's defense was really good during Kaepernick's years, but they weren't scary-good-among-the-best-of-all-time like the ones Dilfer had backing him up during his peak success. Making equivalency arguments in this case is not a good move.

Personally, I really don't care who the Bengals quarterback is. I'm not a fan, so I don't have a dog in the fight. But just remember ,be careful what you ask for, you might just get it!!!! Good luck to them though.

just in case anyone wants to actually look at the stats of the 3 QB's being mentioned.

Hmmm, Dalton just might be the best of the 3... lol

Unless it doesn't matter who throws the most TD's, the most yards, has the best completion percentage and the highest QB rating...

Now also consider say if Kap always had the supporting cast Dalton had. Dalton like Kap has had a top 10 defense the majority of his career. Dalton has had a top 5 running game one year. Dalton has had a top 5 wr and top 5 te. Kap when he had the defense and some talent on offense around him he won playoff games and was 7 yards away from the super bowl.

Let's pretend the Bengals drafted Kap and the 49ers drafted Dalton. The Bengals probably still make the playoffs each year because only 2 years has Dalton had really good years. The other years the defense or running game led them. While if Dalton was a 49er who knows when he gets to start. Rmemeber Alex Smith was there and Alex Smith started playing really well with Jim Harbaugh. Kap got the job when Alex Smith was hurt and played amazing passing and running. I doubt Dalton would have jumped in and brought that other dimension to that offense like Kap did. So chances are Alex Smith would have got his job back 2 weeks later. So who knows when Dalton becomes a full time starter. Who knows if Smith even gets traded then. Or they may have waited a little longer before doing it and Dalton may not have took over until Harbaugh left and then he would have been stuck on bad teams with no talent.

The fact of the matter is Dalton has been more blessed than most qbs are when they come to this league. He has had a top 10 defense the majority of the time. Top weapons to throw to. Then Even the year Green was hurt some in 2014, he had a top 5 running game. As much as people want to only look at oh they made the playoffs. People need to also look at how more blessed Dalton has been in his career than most with people around him.

I get what you're saying FC... but the fact that Mike Brown wanted Kap over Dalton in the draft.... tells me all I need to know, lol!

Dalton > Kap

You bring up many things that can't be proven. What if's just don't matter. That's what makes these debates great. You never mentioned offensive lines. That to me is one of the things that make a QB look good. More so than position players.

For 5 of Daltons 7 years he had what was considered a good line. Which brings me back to the point that he has basically been more blessed than any qb is coming out of college.

This is an argument I been making the last few years. I just feel like a lot of qbs could have had similar success. Basically beating the teams he should. Just maybe someone could have done better in the big games like prime time and playoff games.

Kap was nothing more than a flash in the pan player like Osweiler or Matt Flynn. He is not an upgrade and would cost Mikey a few thousand season ticket holders.

Osweiller and Flynn started a couple games and that's it. Kap started a few seasons and led team to multiple playoff births, two nfc championships, and 7 yards from winning the super bowl.

You can't say it was only because the defense either. In fact their defense wasn't even good in the playoffs during their super bowl year. Kap and the offense is why they made it by scoring basically over 30 a game in the playoffs. He like Dalton did well when He had talent on offense and a good defense. The only difference is he actually made plays to help the 49ers win in those big games and playoffs. Kaps last few years with the 49ers they have had a bad defense and no talent on offense. If people want to use all these excuses for Daltons bad play. The same can be said about why Kaps play dropped off. Except Dalton still has had more around him than Kap had his last few years.

I'm blown away at the amount of people everywhere that says he needs to be signed. The fact of the matter is that 32 NFL teams do not want him on their team. He is not a good QB. If he was, he would be on a team. It's as simple as that. IMO team do not give 2 farts if you kneel during the national anthem. Heck, the Bengals just drafted a player who punched a woman on screen. He isnt signed because he isnt good. End of story.

Dont forget the Canadian league said "dont come up here" as well.

He is definitely good enough to be a backup. Their are a lot of bad qbs in this league. However if teams don't view him as a starter. He is not worth the risk of having the attention he would bring even as a backup. No team wants stories about their backup qb that get national attention. Same reason why Tebow didn't get signed. He actually is better than a lot of backups. However not worth the national news that comes with it. You want stories about your team not your backup qb.
