The Cardinals are just not ready for a battle with Belfry at this point. The two programs are too far apart. Belfry will play everybody and work on things they need to work on. The coaches will try to limit the margin, but the Pirates will still win big.

Save for the homecoming festivities at the half, this game will be a quick one.

From 2009-2017, other than State Championship games, Belfry has lost only 2 games to 3A competition. Both of those losses were to Sheldon Clark

There were several really good matchups between these two in the past. Sadly, those days appear to have passed for Sheldon Clark. This one won't be close.

District play begins for both teams. Sheldon Clark is one of only two 3A teams to beat Belfry in the last 8 seasons. However, this Sheldon Clark team will need a miracle to pull of the upset this year. Can it happen?

That would be a big OLE NOPE. Belfry by about what ever they want.

Very true. SC has beaten Belfry 5 times I think, and they have had several other close games.

The 1998 game was really the one that started the rivalry. That was a tough one in the regional finals. Belfry had beaten SC in the regular season by 3 touchdowns and the game really wasn't that close. In the regional final Harley Hammonds and Mo Spradlin ran, and ran and ran for SC and played keep away from the Pirates. It was a gutty performance that ended 8-8 in regulation. Belfry scored first in overtime, taking a 15-8 lead. SC scored on 4th down from the 1 to cut it to a point. They then went for 2, gave the ball to Spradlin and he dragged a few Belfry players with him as he literally crawled across the goal line. It was a great run, even if they should have called him down, LOL

The Cardinals went on to host Highlands the next week and Lorenzen and Smith and company gave them a good beating on their way to the title.
