Does this mean that St.X - Male could be a second round game? Followed by Trinity, followed by a trip to W.Ky.?

Yep. Shocking, ain't it? (sorry, isn't it?)

This is a very real scenario.

Assume Manual finishes third in their district and X/Male finish 1 & 2, then this will happen.

Manual's final regular season game will be Male

Their 1st playoff game would be either Male or X.

If they win that one they would play the winner of the 1 v 4 game (Likely either Male or X).

If they win that one their likely opponent in Rnd. three is Trinity (at Manual Stadium)

If they survive that they then have a road game east.

That's just nasty.

I think a better word for it is absurd.

The KHSAA and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have to have some of the same people working for them. :ylsuper:

Not Western Kentucky...eastern.

Not Western Kentucky...eastern.

The shocking part is that X and Male could play in the 2nd round with the winner playing Trinity in the 3rd. Whether its Eastern or Western Kentucky matters less after that.

You are correct. The survivor of the T/X/H gaunlet will take on the champion of the east. If they win its on to the champion of the NKY/WKY side of the bracket.

Big 3 playoff games since 1998 against non Big 3 teams that were close.

2005 St. X 21 - John Hardin 20

2005 John Hardin 49 - Male 47

2004 Dixie 14 - Trininty 10

2004 North Hardin 26 - Male 20

2003 St. X 13 - Warren Central 9

2003 Male 25 - Meade 24

2001 Meade 35 - St. X 20

2000 St. X 20 - North Hardin 14

1999 St. X 22 - Hopkinsville 21

1999 St. X 34 - Bryan Station 31

1999 Bryan Station 31 - Trinity 21

1998 St. X 27 - Faridale 25

1998 Male 12 - Fern Creek 6

1998 Male 20 - Nelson Co 14

1998 Tates Creek 37 - Trinity 14

I'm not saying a non Big 3 game will win the state championship this year, or even make a game of it. Just saying that it is possible a non Big 3 team could make a competitive game of the state championship. That's why we play them.

8 years times 3 teams times an average of 3 or 4 playoff games per year is Approximatley 85 playoff games for Big 3 teams since 1998. 15 were "close", though the Big 3 won 9 of those. I'm no mathematician, but it looks to me like other teams have no better than about a 1:12 chance of beating T, X, or Male in the playoffs. Usually it takes one of them to beat the other.

NKY has to be the winner, sooner or later you'll have to face X or T but later is better than sooner.

Wky is a big winner too...No St X or Male till at least the finals..Maybe they can at least now get a team to L'ville.....

WKY or NKY?

WKY or NKY?

Both. WKY no longer has to deal with X or Male to get to PJCS. Likewise for NKY, their road to PJCS no longer runs through St. Matthews.
