Lincoln Co. is a dark horse in D8.........THE PRIVATES IMO SHOULD FIND ANOTHER VENUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah plenty more of   I see.

So since we have to go what of independent school districts and open enrollment schools? Question is have you gone to the public private forum yet? I would advise taking this kind of talk there.

The NCAA Mens Basketball tournament wouldn't be near as exciting if the top 3 teams in the nation were set to play each other in the second and third round would it?

Perhaps seeding the playoffs would be better. But that could be a travel nightmare.

The big 3 was the ones upset having to play so early.

Indeed we were the ones upset about it but another thing you seem to forget as well in your blanket statement about "privates" is that the the #1 team in 4A right now Male (also a member of the Big 3) is a public school.

Considering the Big 3 are the class of 4A and not having them meet in the finals makes for a  of a title game. Remember 2004?

Personally though just to take the regionalism out of it, seeding the playoffs in a similar fashion to the NCAA tourney would make more sense in order to try to get the best possible teams to the finals.

Who? I am pretty sure that I have heard of about 40 other 4A schools...

So far you are 0-2 against the rules in this thread. Make sure that you don't strike OUT :thumb:

For the same reason that for years Highlands and Cov. Cath would eliminate one another in 3A by round Three. They never cared that they may be the best 2 teams in the state.

Good point. I think one big difference in this discussion is that NKY has far fewer AAA teams than Lousiville does AAAA teams. CovCath and Highlands had to be in the same district because of the number of schools.

Lousiville has a lot of AAAA teams, and almost every school in the area used to play "up" in AAAA even if they weren't. I remember there was a time, the KHSAA awarded a Jefferson County State Champion, and then a state-at large champion in AAAA.

The Highlands-CovCath thing is a good reference point, but it doesn't really apply to this discussion.

Every other state has the teams in the same area eliminate one another. Thats why it is called a region. There have been many years that the two best teams in Ohio were from Cincy. However, they has to beat one another to advance to the semis.

I'm aware of the defination of a region, but thanks. The Ohio arguement doesn't work for me on this one, because it's a far bigger state. So many more teams are involved, it's an apples and oranges arguement.

^ Keep in mind that Kentucky's largest city (Louisville), is geographically located to where it must be split, to evenly divide the state, nothing more, nothing less. Therefore, a natural split, allows for 2/3 Big III to be split from the other, making the 4A championship one of the most exciting events in the state.

Wow....I reread the rules of BGP, after your post . I apologize.:ylsuper:

Does this mean that St.X - Male could be a second round game? Followed by Trinity, followed by a trip to W.Ky.?

^ yes...that is exactly what it means. Although I think the trip would be to Lexington.

This is a very real scenario.

Assume Manual finishes third in their district and X/Male finish 1 & 2, then this will happen.

Manual's final regular season game will be Male

Their 1st playoff game would be either Male or X.

If they win that one they would play the winner of the 1 v 4 game (Likely either Male or X).

If they win that one their likely opponent in Rnd. three is Trinity (at Manual Stadium)

If they survive that they then have a road game east.

That's just nasty.

If I thought Manual had a better shot, I'd be all about it (how often will a team have played the Big 3 twice in one season?). Unfortunately, my sadist nature is only so strong... this wouldn't be to my liking.

Mod please delete... accidental double post. Kind of wierd.
