Five of the top seven teams in Class 3A won last weekend (two didn't play), each against an opponent from a higher class. Which victory do you think tells us the most about potential contenders in 3A? Why?

-Corbin 14 Whitley County 0

-Elizabethtown 55 Franklin-Simpson 23

-Central 7 Manual 0

-Lexington Catholic 34 Madison Central 24

-Boyle County 41 John Hardin 6

I look for Etown to be great through November.....too many talented, experienced Seniors.

I'm torn between E'town and Central. Both turned in fantastic performances, one offensively and one defensively. In the end, I think Central's dominance over one of the better teams in KY was the most impressive.

In order of impressiveness (is that a word?)...

-Central 7 Manual 0

-Elizabethtown 55 Franklin-Simpson 23

-Boyle County 41 John Hardin 6

-Lexington Catholic 34 Madison Central 24

-Corbin 14 Whitley County 0

Does the LexCath/Madison Central score resonate at all with Boyle County fans after the scrimmage result a couple of weeks ago?

I'm not 85, but I've thought about that quite a bit. Obviously comparing a scrimmage to a regular season game can be tricky, but what does it mean?

Is Lexington Catholic really good? Is Madison Central an odd/bad matchup for Boyle County? Is John Hardin not very good? I'm not sure there's enough data to make a judgment on any of those questions as of yet.

I'm leaning toward Lexington Catholic being really good. I also think John Hardin's probably not very good right now. They always seem to struggle a bit early on before finding their form later in the season.

It was a scrimmage I would not read much into the scrimmage. The team that played Saturday night was a totally different team and was coached totally different. With that being said I am sure Catholic has a nice team and Boyle is still trying to prove themselves. The next couple of weeks will tell where this Boyle team is at right now.

It does to me. Boyle has not beaten LC in a long time. They are always close, hard fought games, but Boyle has not been able to find a way to win. The mindset alone that Lex Cath stomped a team that stomped Boyle is worrisome.

October 13 is a long way off and lots will happen between now and then. Both teams will be different by then and you can be sure another close, hard fought game is awaiting both teams.

The Central victory and the Elizabethtown victory were both impressive. I give the nod to Central if for no other reason than that they have a brand new head coach and are able to keep the mojo going. Naturally, of course, both of those teams are on rebuilding Bardstown's schedule. Eeeesh.

1. Central

2. LexCath

3. Etown

4. Boyle

5. Corbin

The top four were all very impressive wins. Corbin slightly underperformed in my eyes but can make it up this week
