The worst thing that could've happened for Raceland this week is that Ashland got their butts handed back to them last week. There's going to be one bunch of P'd off Tomcats  and it's their home opener. I was impressed with the Rams special teams play last week and as always, the O and D line play will determine the winner in this one.

Raceland, needless to say are going to have to play one of their best games that they will all season to get a Win in this one. I don't know a lot about Sommerset other than they have a strong winning tradition so I would say that Paintsville may be the only team on the Ram schedule that will be better than Ashland. I have heard it said that the biggest improvement a team will make is between week one and two, if that's true then I sure hope that the Rams greatly improve bc there are quite a few good teams coming up on the schedule, including Ashland.

3 Schools .. 2 Towns = 1 RAMS Family ! GO RAMS !

Special teams could be a huge factor in this game for sure. Colburn and Hester both can take it to the house on kickoffs for Ashland. They were neutralized somewhat last week by an outstanding kicker from Harlan County. Punt returner for Ashland Caines had a couple of huge returns to set up Ashland scores also. Should be a good game. Ashland gets some help from the OL and DL and they may pull away. Interesting Raceland leading the poll right now, not a lot of faith in the CATS!

According to Ashland's roster, they've only got two kids that tip the scales at 250+ (one of them is injured), compared to eight for Raceland, despite the fact that Ashland has about 430 boys and Raceland has about 160. If you lower the weight to 230+, Ashland's only got 5 kids that meet that criteria (one of them is a TE), compared to 15 for the Rams.

It's not a fair comparison, Rams weight more then Tomcats.

Touche.

However, Tomcats are faster than Rams.

True, very true.

I'm very impressed with Raceland so far. Black seems to be running the offense fairly well.

I think that some are going to be surprised at Raceland's team "quickness", especially on defense.

As in most years, with the Tomcats being at home and just on the overall history of this game, I will give the edge to Ashland. Should my Rams go into Putnam and get the Win then it certainly wouldn't shock me. Will be a very close game should Raceland win and could be anything from close to multiple td's if Ashland takes it.

Raceland, thru the years in this series have gone from "I hope to play w / them" to "We could maybe pull the upset" to "WE Expect to Win" and w / that mind set the Rams always will have a chance.

Ashland swept the vote for this game by the ADI staff, 5-0.

I think that's basically what they had last week in favor of Lawrence. ..just say'n :sneaky:

RAMS .....No stupid penalties, Play w/ dicipline, Go Hard on Every Play. In Other Words.............

DO YOUR JOB !!!

......(Besides, I want to hear Dick Martin Whining, Crying and Blaming anything and / or anyone for the loss :lol2:)

To who's surprise?

Ashland's weakness last season is still its weakness this year. Line play on both sides of the ball.

I was surprised that no one picked the Rams to win after last week's results. Raceland looked pretty strong, Ashland... not so much.

Agreed. I was surprised so many of the ADI staff had Ashland winning last week as well.
