July 26, 20179 yr Coach also participated in free clinics held for Youth coaches. Always pointed to the 3 point line and says it has changed basketball more than anything in the history of the game. One of his great stories that he always told with a laugh was after he left Highlands to be the coach at NKU and he had a couple of so-so seasons leading the Norseman, one of the NKU boosters said, "Heck we hired you because you were such a great recruiter and I just am not seeing it at this level."

Plain and simply, he captivated the audience with his talk.

August 31, 20179 yr I had planned on attending the Kenny Shields Day Celebration and Book Signing at the Behringer Crawford Museum in Devou Park this past Saturday, but unfortunately had a last minute change in plans and couldn't go. Though a couple of news sources announced it beforehand, I haven't seen anything on it since it took place, and was wondering if by chance anyone happened to go, and if they or @Mustang could let us know how things went. The weather was perfect Saturday morning, so I can only imagine that Devou Park made for a perfect spot to hold the event. From the announcement article it looks like TBNK was there to film the event, so that will be great to be able to see whenever that becomes available.
August 31, 20179 yr Author ^^ Another overflow crowd. It continues to amaze me the attachment that the community has to a man who hasn't coached a game since 2004. Channel 5 and 12 were there, and as you said, TBNK filmed the entire thing. They will edit it and play it back at an upcoming date. The Mayor of Covington, Jon Draud - Kenton County Commissioner, and Charlie Coleman - Campbell County Commissioner all proclaimed last Saturday to be Kenney Shields day in their various jurisdictions and presented Coach with plaques. Dick Murgatroyd spoke on behalf of Dr. James Claypool (NKU) who was unable to attend, I spoke about how the book came to be, and Coach Shields spoke about his career. We sold and signed over 40 books at this event. On Monday we joined Mark Haynes at WVXU between 1pm and 2pm on his Cincinnati Edition show.
