The Reds have made it fairly clear that they envision him as a pitcher. My only concern is that he's never going to make it as an everyday player unless he gets regular at-bats at this point in his career. So, if he focuses 100% on pitching and forgoes the hitting instruction, it's all or nothing as a pitcher. If he devotes the majority of his effort into SS, he could still be a pitcher in 2 years if the SS job doesn't work out. Unique situation that should be fun to follow.

I blame ownership for making a pick of a player that they may not be able to sign, specifically their first pick of the draft. Blame MLB for the process that pays a 17 year old kid 7 plus million because he was able to dominate a bunch of 17 year olds.

July 10, 20179 yr The newspaper yesterday said he would likely go to Arizona to "stretch out" since he has not pitched in like 2 months. While he is "stretching out" he will get some game action as a designated hitter.

I think if his ultimate goal is to do both at the MLB level he would be wise to move from SS. I don't see anyway he plays SS without being committed to it 100%. Maybe a corner OF spot.

Too much stress on the arm, and interferes with his pitching work on non pitching days. If he get's at bats, it will be as a DH.
