I have read the slot position is worth $7.193 million and the Refs structured their bonus pool money to give him $7.245m without incurring a fee. My understanding they have already offered that making his the highest signing bonus since the bonus pool restrictions went into effect in 2012. He just hasn't signed it yet. Not sure what he wants. But if he doesn't sign, the Reds still would get the #3 pick next year. But no way he plays amateur ball for at least another year.
July 7, 20179 yr Having and giving it to him are two different things. Why would they draft a guy and not plan to pay him basically what the slot value is. That makes no sense. The money is there. It should get done.

They knew exactly what to expect when drafting him. You think you were caught off guard about the money? :lol2: They planned their entire draft around it and having enough money saved in the later rounds to make it possible to sign him.

They would get the #3 pick AND whatever their 2018 pick would naturally be as well. Not sure how the signing pool would be impacted by having 2 very high picks (assuming the Reds don't catch fire in the 2nd half of the season ).
