June 23, 20179 yr I think next time around President Trump needs to promote a moderate Judge to the Supreme Court. I felt Justice Gorsuch was pretty moderate. He obviously leans to the right side, but there was nothing to make me think he was an ultra-conservative.

June 23, 20179 yr He is not going to make his base mad. Nor should he. Obama's nominations were hardly moderate and they still were confirmed, even with the filibuster still an option. Of course had the R's filibustered either Soto-Mayor or Kagen they would have been accused of misogyny and racism against people of Latin descent.

June 23, 20179 yr Kennedy became much more conservative on the bench as he grew older. He was a mentor to Gorsuch remember. He also was a dissenting vote on Obamacare I believe. Keeping a judge that atleast leans right is important to the GOP. At the end of the day because the Dems fought so hard on this nomination if the GOP still controls the Senate there is literally nothing they can do now. It is why I said it was a mistake to use the only option they had on Gorsuch. Schumer made a bad political move.
