When I read "Redbone", I instantly thought that you were speaking of Leon Redbone. I don't at all recall the Redbone tune or the band, nor do I recall the 10cc song. The only songs by 10cc I do recall were "I'm Not In Love", "The Things We Do For Love", which I believe were pop tunes that Q102 did play. I'm familiar with "God Gave Rock n' Roll to You" but I'm sure that I wasn't made aware of it until years after Ardent did it.
June 18, 20179 yr Here's a song from 1967 that I love from a band named "Love" that I had never heard of until about 10 years ago when I got goose bumps hearing it live during an impromptu Tuesday afternoon in-studio performance at WNKU by the Arizona-based Americana, Tex-Mex, Indie rock band "Calexico" where only about 5 people showed up. Hearing the trumpet right in my face was magical. Afterwards the band followed me to Willie's Sports Bar in Covington because the German trumpet player (the one in the video with the cooler hair style) was desperate to get somewhere where he could watch World Cup Soccer. Hung out and had a couple of beers with them... cool dudes. This first video is Calexico, and in the next post the original tune by Love
June 18, 20179 yr A couple of weeks ago I turned on the TV to catch the tail end of the show "This Is Us" and this interesting tune caught my attention, so I made sure to remember a bit of the lyrics to have some way to figure out what it was by checking online. The beginning of it musically reminded me of Fairport Convention's - "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" from 1969, but the melody was entirely different. What I found was a folk artist famous in England named Labi Siffre, and his 1972 UK charted single "Watch Me". Further research brought to my attention that he had also written and recorded the original version of "It Must Be Love" (which charted in the UK in 1971), that again was made famous by the band Madness (Our House) in 1981 that some here might recall hearing during the early days of MTV.

June 18, 20179 yr None of them ever heard this one either. I realize the original version by Argent may be somewhat obscure, but they never heard the cover by Kiss either. I don't get how you never hear any of these songs. I've heard the KISS cover a gazillion times, never knew it was a cover until today.
June 18, 20179 yr Author 47. Grew up listening to 70's pop on the radio and still listen to the 70's station on Sirius quite a bit, and consider myself a music geek. I'm familiar with more than a few 10cc songs, but honestly never remembered hearing Dreadlock Holiday before hearing it on Sirius a couple years ago.I can still understand you're not hearing these songs based on our difference of age. I'm a good 8 years older than you. So, with your love for 70s music, you like the 3 I posted?

June 18, 20179 yr Run,I only know the Kiss cover. The only 10cc song I really know is The things we do for love. I finally found a nice .50 cent copy of Deceptive Bends. I'm 52.
