Prior to Scooter, only sixteen times had a player hit four dingers in a Major League game. Fifteen times in MLB history a player pulled off the miraculous unassisted triple play. What's more, Scooter's feat of four homers is more rare than the perfect game. There have been 23 of those in baseball history, 21 in modern times. Only one Yankee has ever accomplished the feat--- Lou Gehrig. Pretty good company there, Scooter. Furthermore, five of those who have accomplished the feat are in the HOF. The American League once went 43 years between four homer games (1959-2002). So, yes, tonight's feat by the little hometown slugger is truly historic and quite the rarity. A couple of trivia questions: 1. I remember a game very well back in the eighties in which a guy hit four dongs in a game and his team still lost the darn game. How's that for being a bad team? Your slugger hits four out of the park and you still lose. Who was he? 2. I'm sure many of you old guys like me remember the other player to hit four homers in a game in Cincinnati. June 7, 20179 yr #2 is "Hard Hittin'" Mark Whiten, who, oddly enough, played for the Cardinals. The former Red was Mike Cameron. No idea on #1.

June 7, 20179 yr Four Home Runs is the rarest of the rare. Cameron Homers were all solo homers I believe. Price said he has been present for both Cameron and Scooters feats.
June 7, 20179 yr I was at the game when Whitten hit four Home Runs and sitting right behind the Cards dugout. Eric Davis went to the wall and just missed robbing him on a couple of them.

However, one could argue that Scooter deserves to sit back and relax tonight after his historic performance less than 24 hrs ago. I'd say he'd rather be in the lineup, though.
