Record Store Day 2017

I've only skimmed the list and haven't zoned in on all of my targets, but I am definitely interested in both releases from The Cure and also Evan Dando.

 

I need to work on my wishlist.

 

Evan Dando is a must-have for me.

 

I can't pass on the Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit release either. It's a compilation of studio outtakes:

Side A: 1. Can't You Hear Me Knocking (Stones cover) 2. Storm Windows (John Prine cover) 3. Heart on a String (Candi Staton cover)

Side B: 1. Atlantic City (Springsteen cover) 2. Sway (Stones cover) 3. Never Gonna Change (Isbell original)

I'm pretty interested in the Ben Folds "Live in Perth" release as well, which he recorded with the West Australia Symphony Orchestra. I have the DVD of that concert and enjoy it quite a bit, so that may be a 3rd purchase for me.

 

Some of the other titles that piqued my interest were RL Burnside "Long Distance Call", Son House "Oberlin College, April 15, 1965" and Townes Van Zandt "Live at Austin City Limits"

You're right - he definitely is back in Latonia. The list also shows Astro Black in Louisville as a participant, and they closed up months ago.

I think record store day is great for the independent record stores and the resurgence of vinyl records. Personally,I just don't get into it like I used to. It's just way too crowed for me and I hate to drive an hour just to get there. Although if there was a RSD in Danville I'm sure I would have to check it out.

I used to try to go every year but I've not been able to in some time. I don't have the luxury of going and standing on line for 4 hours before the store opens, and by the time I can get there it's already picked through.

Yeah, that's a problem for sure at some of the more popular stores. The place I hit up is usually just a line 8-10 deep 15 minutes before open.
