ME too, now you can have a team lose 2 times in the post season and make the state tournament.

If they went with this setup, yes, that would be possible!!!

Let's have a super state, where all teams in Kentucky make it. Start it in December, and don't hurt anybody's feelings by leaving them out.

As crazy as that is it would not surprise me in today's world.

Can we just give everyone a trophy and call it a day?

Let everyone in the state tournament, then let out school for two days and give them all a state tourney participation trophy. That would be perfect

If they are going to do this then why even play the district tournament? Just seed based on regular season results. It will put more incentive on winning in the regular season. This new format will be just one/two more opportunities for a a team to lose a key player to injury before potentially representing its region in Rupp.

I think we are all forgetting that this is just a trial. They are going to try this out for one year, if it doesn't work out, they'll try something else the next year.

 

The consolation game isn't mean to be a "participation award" but more as a logical reason to help seed the regional tournament, because computer and human rankings could be put up to serious speculation.

I may be a little slow, but can somebody explain again why this is being done? Kentucky already has the best setup going. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Attendance has been slowly declining for years, trying to be proactive and fix it.
