Estill and Montgomery County, once were district foes and continued playing eachother once Estill joined the 14th region. For awhile the Engineers and Indians didn't play eachother, in fact, I think the last time these two teams played was the 07/08 season in the Gateway Holiday Classic. Well, the wait is over, the Indians will be coming to Irvine to take on the Engineers January 16th 2018.

 

I know Estill and Montgomery had talks about getting a girls game together for the past couple of seasons but never did reach a date so I don't know if this is just a JV/V game or a boy/girl DH but I'm pretty stoked these two teams are playing again!

Last I had heard is that Coach Cook at GRC is trying to get Estill on the schedule as well. I do know that Jackson City and St. Patrick are not on Estill's schedule for next season. South Laurel is in the bobby keith classic @ Clay County. Hazard is as well.

What was the reason for discontinuation of the series? Bad blood or just leaving the district/region?

Estill County has never physically moved, yet they've spent time in the 11th, 10th, and now 14th Regions. It is arguable that they aren't a great geographical fit in any of the three, although culturally they probably link best to the 14th.
