Don't know the name but what I'm assuming is the main assistant. He sat next to the head coach during the game. Coming from that school and being on a visitors court it was surprising.

This language is unnecessary. I've also seen the JV coach T'd up for complaining to officials - absolutely no need for that. You get most of the talent in NKy - just coach it up for goodness sake!

Are you all naive to think coaches in NKY or for that matter across the state don't use foul language?

 

I reached out to said coach andbtold him he was getting bashed on here. He said he couldn't recall making the outburst but probably got caught up in the game and felt really bad about it. He has a nephew on the court and said he may have been directing it toward him but wasn't sure. He apologizes to both SK and CovCath folks.

 

My thing here is foul language may not be right but it happens in the heat of the game. Lets not all act like we are angels and have never used vulgarities. If you haven't then you are a very small % in this world.

 

The guy is one if the most committed to HS kids as an Assistant Coach as I have seen. Cut him some slack.

I don't care if a coach cusses to his kids as long as everyone in the gym doesn't hear. It builds character :lol2:

I played in middle school, high school, and college. I have coached both middle school and high school on both the boys and girls side. I've never cussed at a player or ref. I was tempted to cuss at a parent once, but still refrained.

 

It is not that difficult to stop yourself from using profanity in the heat of the moment.

 

That being said, if it does happen, I don't think it is that big a deal. I do not like profanity but in this country we are not guaranteed a freedom from being offended.

As long as he was directing it at a family member - well then, that's a different story. Cuss on, man!

 

My final thought - people are critical about an aspect of a player/coach's game/skills/personality and it's over-interpreted as "so and so is an awful human being."

 

Let's keep it in perspective. The guy used profanity. I understand it's a reality but still feel it isn't necessary. I hope he learns from it, and we all move on.

Quite frankly, with their recent success has come some obnoxious actions under the mantle of "We can do it because we are good." Haven't made any friends in the NKY community.

No one is implying other coaches don't use foul language, but most don't do it loud enough to be heard by the fans, and hardly EVER is the "F" word used. And I have been around a LOT of games.

I don't mind a coaches slip of the tongue. That happens. There always seems to be an administrator at the games by the crazies looking like a lion tamer holding back the lions. As soon as they started chanting about how a player sucked I would have pulled a Barney Fife and nipped it in the bud.
