January 31, 20179 yr 93 - 6. Those who voted no were: Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.), Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Jeff Merkley (Ore.), Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) and Cory Booker (N.J.), and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
February 1, 20179 yr There was never a doubt. They will all be confirmed eventually and should. I agree.
February 1, 20179 yr I only wonder why Transportation and not Labor. And if Transportation, does this help the Cincy Bridge need?
February 1, 20179 yr Elaine Chou is well qualified for this position. The only reason not to vote for confirmation was purely political. I would have been tempted to vote against confirmation because of her spouse, but in the end I would have done the right thing - something five radical left wing Democrats and their socialist friend did not do.
February 1, 20179 yr I find it interesting that Schumer voted against her. The others who voted against her were pretty predictable, especially Warren and Sanders. So much for Schumer trying to work with McConnell in any way. I am just baffled at Chucky right now. He is going out of his way to just obstruct on EVERYTHING when he knows he cannot win...I get playing politics but this isn't even smart politics.

I don't get why Schumer and the other left of left Democrats would not vote to confirm a few well qualified candidates for the lesser cabinet positions like Transportation and try to score their political points by opposing the higher profile Trump nominees. This is not smart politics.

Just saw a McConnell interview surronding the Supreme Court , they touched on his wifes nomination. He didn't show much but you could tell he took offense to Schumer's vote. A true political war has begun between two of the best alive doing it. Most on here aren't political junkies like me. But this stuff intrigues me. I'm intrested to see what advantage or point Schumer was trying to make. In a vote that was going to pass why declare war with the peer you need to negotiate with.
February 1, 20179 yr McConnell knows how to negotiate? This kind of response makes remember how ironic your screen name is to most of us. But McConnell whether you agree or disgree with his positions is the one of if not the best politician in Washington on how to play the game.

You don't get to Senate Majority Leader without being an expert in playing the political game. That is just fact...
