East Carter 39 Estill County 12

We started a youth league a few years ago and now the first kids to go through it are just getting to middle school. Maybe down the road we will see some good results from it.

Estill has a lot of problems with kids quitting football at the beginning or somewhere throughout high school. We always have a lot of kids out in middle school and they usually make it through that, but when they move down to the high school, they just start disappearing.

Whos the coach down there? Sounds like the coach needs to be more proactive in getting those same players out again.

There's nothing the coaches can do, it's just the kids, it's a basketball community.

Congrats to Coach Damron of East. I hope you keep improving.

 They are 62 wins and 139 loses in B-ball over the last 5 years. You call that a Basketball school.

Maybe they are a Girls Basketball school?

Congratulations to Coach Damron, must have gotten all of the wounds licked, and then some. Good Luck next week!

No it's boys basketball. You have to live in Estill County to understand it. It doesn't matter what the record is it still gets most of the support.

I am glad to see someone so interested in Estill County. You seem to have all the stats.

Mike Jones is an outstanding coach...great offensive mind...does a heckuva job adjusting his offense to his talent. All programs go through some tough times...;)

Just came over here from the bball board. Estill County is a school where kids are trying to do the best they can with what they have. The Coaches are doing the same. Quit bashing the kids and the coaches. I know two of those 62 wins in basketball have ended Clark County and Powell County's seasons. In basketball - it is the second season that counts - you can win 20 games in the regular season and lose in the first round of districts, or you can use the regular season as a tool to get your team ready for postseason.

In both Football and Basketball at Estill the Coaches care about the Kids - not how many wins they have accumulated in their coaching careers. That is not true in many of the counties in Kentucky today. I know Coach Jones and he is not as concerned with wins and losses as you are - he wants to help at risk kids. I know the boys basketball coach well - he certainly is not so insecure as to worry about how many REGULAR SEASON games his boys win. He wants to teach them life lessons and to fight iand compete in every thing they do.

I curious what kind of a calculator you used? Estill has 1 bad season in the last 6. 139 losses?

I agree with up and down. Good coaches in ALL the major sports. Funny thing is , most people considered estill to be football first school for 25 years and still do.
