Conner played really good defense for 3 quarters. They just got tired and didn't have enough depth. Conner still had chances to win in the 4th quarter after the safety and just kept shooting themselves in the foot.

 

On a side note, Kyle Scroggins looked amazing tonight. I think if he keeps up with what he was doing tonight, people are going to know this kid by the end of the season.

 

It was a good and clean game on both sides of the ball. I was happy to see no one from either side of the ball loose there cool out there. Holmes had one late hit out of bounds in the 4th quarter, but I don't think that it was anything really intentional. Both teams were playing really hard and aggressive.

 

It was good game to watch if you like a real defensive struggle. Good luck to both teams as the play out the remainder of the season.

Big win for the Bulldogs!

Congrats to the Bulldogs, opening up with a district win in Briar Thicket this evening.

Bulldog defense played a heck of a game and the offense came to life in the late stages of the third quarter.

Conner had one last ditch attempt starting out on their own 35, but proceeded to lose about 35 yeards and fumbled into their own end zone...to make the final tally 15-8.

Conner's onside kick off the safety kick was recovered by the Dogs.

Game over.

My mistake. I did not catch the final two points that Holmes put on Conner. I left with a little over a minute to go and it was still 13-8.

I didn't know that you could do an onside kick on a free kick. Sounds like Conner played a tolerable good game. Congrats to the Bulldogs.

Very nice road win for Holmes. As I said in the prediction thread, I thought this was a tough game to pick and I knew anyone picking a thumping one way or another would be off-base. It was always going to be a close game, and it looks like Holmes did what needed to be done to earn the "W".

 

Conner has an uphill climb to a playoff spot at this point.
