Geez nobody said Elliott County was not a good team. Just said they have not played a good enough schedule to be there yet. JMO

If Elliott County beats Morgan County Thursday night (and they should), they will face Paris in the first round of the All "A" State. Should be a very interesting game, because both teams will be looking for some respect!

Elliott County's only loss is 64-59 to Tennessee's AAA 20th ranked Ravenwood in a holiday tournament in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

Is this going to be another one of those "Elliott County" things? Tons of hype about how beautiful a brand of basketball they play, yet they never win anything that matters?

 

Highly possible they don't get the "respect they deserve" because they didn't really deserve it the last time we were forced to notice.

Elliott County had an unexpectedly easy time in the 16th region all a final winning 73-45 in a game that was never in doubt, jumping out to a 31-5 lead after the first quarter.

 

All I'm talking about is in regards to grabbing that 20th spot. Not trying to say anymore than that, but many walked away last year with at least a little more respect at Rupp. Hard to open up with a bowling green team and a heck of a lot better than 40+ beat down the year before. They have guards that I would put up against with anybody in the state combined with defense they are really good IMO. They contained a 6'9" monster in Ben Jordan last night and beat a good west carter team. They can beat you in a lot of ways and matchup with about anybody.

I would like say that Elliott County from the 16th region is as good as any of the included 13th region teams.

 

I hope they are better than their effort in the state tournament last season ouch ?

I'm sure there are a couple of Elliott County opponents in the 16th region who will be disappointed that they are not good teams. That being said, I graduated from Elliott County and my children graduated from Corbin. I follow both schools and I will rate both teams against one another by saying that if both teams brought their A game, I would want to be the coach of Elliott County because they are quicker, more balanced offensively and are better defensively.

 

So if that's the case your the only one that thinks that way because Corbin in ranked and Elliott isn't...must be strength of schedule.

They will play some talent next week. Hopefully they can prove some wrong along the way. That first game will be a dandy

Perry Central is going to be a team to watch. It will be interesting to watch their development. They are definitely on the right track right now. The two big kids that came from June Buchanan are starting to make a difference. Team chemistry will determine their fate, in my opinion. The point guard position is my biggest ?
