NNSA Denies Report Top Nuclear Officials Removed by Trump Team

 

WASHINGTON – The National Nuclear Security Agency (NNSA) is pushing back at a news report that the transition team for president-elect Donald Trump plans to remove the heads of the agency when he takes office.

 

On Monday, Gizmodo reported that the Trump team has asked NNSA director Frank Klotz and his deputy, Madelyn Creedon, to step down on Jan 20. Because those positions require senate confirmation, those spots would likely be open for several weeks, if not months – at a time when the agency would need to be advocating the new Congress for funding.

 

However, an NNSA official, speaking on background, denied such discussions have occurred.

 

“The story is not accurate,” the official said. “There have been no discussions between the president-elect’s transition team and any of NNSA’s political appointees on extending their public service past Jan. 20.”

Seriously?? Do you really think he's dumb enough to leave the nukes unattended??

 

I think he lacks experience in a major way and his ego allows him to believe that he is smart enough to overcome any obstacle. He's proven he doesn't listen to anyone other than himself. His tweets show he has the mind of a teenager. Yes I absolutely think he is capable of firing the people who have been in charge of the nukes for 17 years without consulting anyone about how and why he shouldn't do it. Not to mention he is surrounded by people who encourage him to do whatever he wants consequences be damned and yes, I absolutely believe he is capable of making a snap decision like this.

The bold is confusing. If the two head people are political appointees, and no one has discussed them extending their service beyond Jan. 20, does that mean they are finished on Jan. 20?

I felt like Obama was too inexperienced when he was elected, and obviously Trump is even more so. That being said, I prefer what we have had and will have as long as it means that I don't have to experience President Clinton.
